An LMG to fit

The role of a support soldier has always been on my mind since I took up airsofting and began to see what a colored variety there is out there. Now with my cash flow getting the best of me, I'm looking more into this role, but I want some advice from people that know both the kinds of LMG's available and the brands that are a solid choice.

Now, I have pretty much every weapon type except an LMG. Two assault rifles (AK-47 and M14, both TM), a M500 shotgun (China clone), A MP7 (TF7), and a VSR-10(TD) along with a solid WE 1911 as back up.

What I've been trying to go for in terms of keeping with a flow is sticking to a Russian based kit, but that doesn't mean I'm not open to options on other kinds. Ideally, my intention was to turn my AK-47 into something along the lines of an RPK (Since my M14 now fits my Assault role) but I'm still clueless on how to get that idea fulfilled.

Anyway, all that reading aside, does anyone have some good suggestions for me? I'm willing to take any opinions or ideas you have.

well you've kind of got to explore the role in the context of airsoft. Support would thus entail being able to put down LOTS of fire for a sustained period of time.

The RPK plan is a solid one, be warned the kits and parts except for the chinese clone stocks are very hard to come by.

High ROF gun, longer than average (509mm at least) inner barrel and good quality electric winding mag coupled with large MAH rating battery would be the order ofthe day.

Are you going for realism or game effectiveness? since they dont always go hand in hand.

The RPK is indeed a great choice, I myself em building one as we speak. Do it.

All signs point to RPK. I figured as much, I've been aiming for that anyway and it's a great way to change up my AK rather than buying something new.

Anyway Colt, I'm aiming for a bit of both, but I'm leaning more to Effectiveness.

And Amos, I was kinda wondering about that. I saw that already in my travels but wondered if it would actually arrive to me.

they're not technically correct ones though. more like slapping a drum mag on an SPR and calling it an M16 LSW.

ive always thought that being a support role, your shots are better inaccurate than accurate. The reason being that you can pin down a wider zone if you're shots spread big.

After all, you are "support", you arent supposed to be doing the killing directly

true this, which is why I dont mention a "tightbore" or anything. also, mixing .2s and .25s with your hop set for one or the other can make for quite the spray.

Yeah, which is what I find myself in a lot. Even with my AK-47, I was using it as a support role. It definitely has the RoF to make itself as a supportive weapon, I just want to give it that extra nudge in the LMG direction.

Well....LMG's have not just a greater range, but a greater effective range than an assault rifle as well, so a tightbore might be a good idea.

Just comparing the M16 to the M249, etc.

Well, suppose I was to buy each piece to make an RPK. I'd need the right length outer barrel, the right inner barrel, and a drum mag to go with. Knowing me though, I'm probably missing something.
