Need Help with KWA m4
Here is what happend I got my m4, I pluged in the battery loaded a mag and started shooting about 10-15 shots went and the gun went dead. It stoped shooting, I press the trigger nothing happens. This gun has is brand new and has only seen two games. I was running it on a firefox 9.6v ni-hm battery. The first thing that came too mind is dead battery, but that cant be because from my experience a bettery dies slowly and get weaker and weaker then stopes shooting, but you can still hear the battery dying, but here the gun was shooting fine and then went dead. this is my 2nd AEG ever so I dont know anything about fixing or moding them, because my TM ak 47 needed no opening of the mechbox. So I dont know what it could be. My guess is a problem with the electrics, either wiring or connection problem because if there was a jam of some kind in the mechbox I think I would still hear it doing something or struggling too shoot. If anybody has any idea what it can be please help me out, Thx

If it's really that sudden, it could be a popped fuse.

I would also check the fuse before anything else. As Saint said, if it stopped firing suddenly, then it could just be that.
If it isn't the fuse, there's an easy way to tell if the problem is electrical or mechanical. Remove the 2 screws holding grip plate and remove the motor from the grip, taking note of which way the motor fits and which wire connected to which terminal. Most guns have a red color terminal for the red wire, but some don't. With the motor out of the gun, reconnect the wires, take off the safety, and pull the trigger. If the motor turns over, you know you have a mechanical issue inside the mechbox or your motor is sitting too high and needs to be adjusted. If you get no action from the motor, then you know your problem is electrical. The nice thing about Armalites is that they're quite easy to disassemble. To to www.mechbox.com and check out the videos. They have a video of the disassembly and reassembly of a TM M733 (same thing as an M4 in terms of working on it), including a video on the disassembly and reassembly of a v2 mechbox. As for the battery, what you described is true of a Ni-Cad battery. As the battery starts to get low, you will notice a slowdown in your rate of fire until it eventually dies. With an Ni-MH battery, it will pretty much deliver its current at full capacity until it suddenly dies. You'll notice a slowdown as it's just about drained, then it stops.

Just a simple question here, was the battery that you plugged in fully charged? The KWA M4 shoots at around 400fps so if your battery isnt fully charged it just may not have enough juice to cycle.

Well I figuered out the problem I took the gun apart and the mechbox, this fucking thing Is garbage the fucking trigger broke on the gun inside the mechbox. basicly I now hate KWA they claim too have great internals thats why I got it, but the trigger mechanism is plastic and broke after 2 games of use plus maybe like 1000 rounds at home firing. I hate this fucking gun, Fuck KWA!.

I realize that you are upset at spending a lot of money on something that, from everything that I've heard/seen and probably yourself as well, was supposed to be top notch...only to have it break quickly,
....but after a deep breath or two if you decide to keep it, I have a spare trigger in my kit box that you could pickup. Don't know what it's worth, so a fair offer and it's yours. For little cost and a bit of time, you could be back up and running. I'm glad you figured out what was wrong, my condolences that it was a broken piece. Help is here if you want it, it's up to you. Not true. I've had NiMH's slow down before they stop.

Just to add my two cents to this QC tragedy...bought a KWA PTP about 3 months ago, bloody thing died on me after 2 shots.....the air nozzle snapped, plus part that keeps recoil guide rod in place broke off....called KWA to get support, they actually sent me the right parts to fix both problems, solved one, however had to send the slide back for the one of their technicians to install the blowback air nozzle (I am obviously not adept enough to do so on my own), after waiting 1 1/2 months to get the slide back, I put the KWA M9 back together and the fucking thing wont fire at all, not enough gas to cycle one shot...suffise to say..all the gloat and talk about KWA PTP being real training weapons, I find to be complete bullshit,.....in relation to your QC issue on your M4, dude I'm so sorry to hear that....suffise to say i feel your pain...STAY AWAY FROM KWA!!!!!

dude, so what if the trigger broke, the man offered you a replacement trigger.
or better yet get a metal one, im sure that theres got to be a metal trigger for an m4, turn that "500$ lesson" into a 5$ lesson. guns break, yours happened sooner rather then later. why spend all that money just to say fuck kwa and write the gun off. |

I Know I pmed him, But its not the trigger thats broken its the trigger mechanism inside the mechbox that makes the electrical connection when you pull the trigger, thats whats broken resulting in a jam when you press the trigger it is jammed and wont move. I thought i fixed it put the box together and took one shot, from the shock of that one shot the mechanism fucked up again and I need too do everything over again.

Alex,
If your gun is still under warranty, contact Eddie at J's sports 1-626-453-8376(They are in California, they do all the technical gun work for KWA in the USA) tell him to send you a new trigger for free, he did at least send me parts for my PTP, and i didnt even need to supply an invoice or serial, just be firm in your request, that you bought the gun 1 month ago, and the trigger broke, please send me a replacement for my M4, thanks...and he will....hope this helps... |

Yeah, calm down. Someone had their KWA mechbox break and KWA sent them a new one. It's not like KWA is intentionally selling people defective guns. Your gun breaking might cost you hundreds, but it works to potentially destroy KWA's market share.
As for the trigger mechanism being plastic, that's true for ALL version 2 mechboxes, with the sole exception of STAR's microswitch design.

Are KWA close enough to regular V2 Mechboxes to swap parts and what not? Not liking the sound of all these issues, and my neighbour just bought one...
