What Holster is best?
I was wondering what kind of holster I should buy? I have a medium sized pistol and I just want a cheap SIR holster. Should I get a leg, hip, or shoulder holster?

Hip or thigh.
Shoulder rigs can get in the way of chest rigs and vests.

The best holster is one that fits you, fits your gun and retains it and it's mag properly, and that you can draw from and re-holster the gun with your gear on without ever having to take your eyes off your target to look at the holster.
You notice I didn't bother with paltry brand names or models numbers, as that's pretty much useless, until you qualify the above conditions.

I prefer the drop-leg holster which drops down off the side of my vest. I just like the comfortable distance that it provides.

+1 I couldn't agree more...I modified mine to wear it higher on my thigh instead above my knee and it NEVER get's tangled in anything, is right at my finger tips and never moves all day long. Like Koke said..accept no substitutions.

+1 again. I've tried a couple of different thigh holsters and nothing compares to the 6004. |

+1 for the Safariland 6004, and I don't even have one! All I needed was to see one draw from Viking and I was sold (It's like an old Western movie on crack, watching him draw!).

They are model specific so you just have to order the one for your pistol make and model.

So I took a look at their site...what's the difference between "bobbed hammer" and "cocked and locked only"? Far as google tells me, a bobbed hammer has been modded to be shorter...is that it?

What did you do to mod it? It looks like you'd get some crotch pinch otherwise...

I've considered 6004 but still love my Blackhawk Omega VI dropleg, great holster that I've never had an issue with. |

Blackhawk Serpas are amazing.
I prefer vest mounted holsters though. |
