Upgrade Parts for Kraken Gearbox

hey im looking to replace the bushings and piston head in my kraken but not sure which parts to get
im shopping from ehobby's ebay store so im not looking to do business with any other stores
im pretty sure this is the piston head im gonna get but if its not kraken compatible please let me know

and im interested in these bushings with the bearings in them but i dont know if theyd fit or how theyd fit in the krakens gearbox, or should i just buy the regluar systema bushings?

Protip:

V3 PARTS FIT IN A V3 BOX

Read. You'll be able to teach yourself.

6mm bushings will fit in a 6mm gearbox. (Your kraken is a 6mm box)

And yes those piston heads will work. You're in the states though... so why the hell are you buying krakens anyways?

This might not be a protip, but a lot of parts are interchangeable between V2 and V3 mechboxes. (i.e. piston, gears, spring, cylinder, etc...) Some parts are not (i.e. spring guide, cylinder head, etc...). Read the description of the part carefully, and if in doubt, ask (which you have!).

Short answer, the piston head you have pictured will work....but why pick that one. I don't believe that the big chunk of metal is any type of bearing (i.e. it looks like the stock G&P head) and it's meant for stock springs that have the hook at the end. You don't necessarily need a bearing in the piston head at all...

Re. the bearings/bushings...I'd personally stick to bushings (i.e. solid) over bearings (i.e. if they break down, things can go bad in a hurry). Really all you need to be concerned with is the bushing size. Bushings will come in 6mm, 7mm, 8mm (and I don't know what else). The axel holes are the same size...but the diameter of the hole that the bushing sits in can be different sizes. I do not know what the Kraken bushing size is...I'd guess 6mm, but that would just be a guess. Search the forums and the 'net and I'm sure you'll find it somewhere quickly.

Have fun and good luck!

whats the bearing in the piston head for??

p.s. ehobby never replies to any of my questions and ive asked many

id originally bought the kraken for my younger brother after hearing good things about it on here. however upon receiving it in the mail and before i could say id gotten it for him his first reaction was to throw a jealous temper tantrum and smash up his xm8 spring rifle with a rock so i just thought hm well ok im just gonna keep this for myself then so it doesnt get broken on purpose
when i have the money i may buy a jg and then hell get the kraken but til then its mine and i wanna make some preventative upgrades

Bearings (they're not like the bearings for the axles), on the spring guide and/or on the piston head, allow the spring to rotate freely as it compresses and decompresses...

Once a year, around winter time, there's a raging debate on this forum about how bearings do this, or do that, or do nothing at all.

But, for sure, they do increase the FPS by precompressing the spring. However, if you use a crappy/odd/cursed/long spring and have a bearing spring guide AND a bearing piston head, you may run out of room for the spring to actually compress enough and then you'll lock up or break something.

Ain't upgrading fun...!?!

sounds simple and frustratingly complicated. it sounds like ok this is easy to do and it works simply but then it may cause problems and then youre screwed

ok so then if im gonna keep the krakens spring would a piston head with a bearing be good or bad for it?

ehobby had a complete black D-boys ak gearbox for 38 dollars u.s. and i was like wow thats really cheap and i bet its a whole lot better than the krakens box and i was minutes away from buying that and just replacing the entire box itself but somebody else bought it in those few minutes of me looking at it

That would have been a stupid thing to do.

Just buy the 2 upgrades I told you to, and get some one that knows what they're doing to do it.

Seriously... Is it REALLY this complicated?

aint nothing wrong with the Dboys IMO except that the wiring is too short and its alot louder than the Cyma box

for god's sake, yes it's compatible. And damn it, get a damn gun doc to do it, don't hurry urself to suicide by doing it yourself.

I've managed to dissasemble/upgrade/reassemble everything in my Kraken with only minor help from my GF (hold back the hardened anti-reversal latch while I put in the last gear and messed around getting the trigger spring in it's proper position). It really wasn't that difficult. Just make sure you know where each screw goes, and mechbox.com REALLY is your friend.
