Please be advised that MPP Mike Colle (Eglinton - Lawrence) will be hosting a town - hall meeting on "Getting Guns Off Our Streets" on Wednesday May 14th, 2008 from

7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Columbus Centre (Rotunda) 901 Lawrence Ave. West. Attached please find the invite.

MPP Mike Colle introduced Bill 56 - Unlawful Firearms in Act, 2008 in the Ontario Legislature on April 9th, 2008. The bill passed second reading on April 24th with strong support from members of all 3 parties. If passed, this bill would give police officers the authority to impound a vehicle and suspend the license of a driver who unlawfully possesses an illegal firearm in their vehicle. In addition to this, drivers with unlawful firearms in their vehicles would see a possible $10,000 fine and jail time.

Define an "illegal firearm". Would you now face a risk of an impounded vehicle and massive fine if you didn't have 100% of your paperwork handy, like ATT or PAL, when transporting a gun to or from a range?

Not everyone carries all their paperwork all the time, even though they are required to. It's happened to me when I've changed gun cases, and forgot to transfer the paperwork that was under the foam. Technically, my possession and transportation of those guns then is illegal. Even though they are registered, and the cop who stops me knows that they are, because his fancy computer says so. The burden of proof is upon me to prove they are registered and that my ATT and PAL are in effect.

But the gansta rockin' da hood won't have that stuff, and that's what this law targets, but the the unfortunate citizen would get nabbed in it as well.

I think he thinks that this mean we go to jail if we have our airsoft in our car O.o ... Mr.Hitman, FYI airsoft guns are not illegal firearms, they are restricted replicas.

I support it. Also refering to mcguyvers post it's not a bad Idea to take a photocopy of your FAC card and pal or whatever else and put them in your gun case. A police officer probably won't care if its a rifle but may ask more questions if it is a restricted firearm such as a pistol.
[BULLSHIT] Not that I have to worry cause I never speed or so the police have no reason to stop me [/BULLSHIT] but seriously, obey the rules of the road and you don't have to worry about getting stopped.

Police have been known to wait outside the gates of gun ranges, stopping traffic coming and going to the range. Speeding is irrelevant.

Also, in areas where hunting occurs, you also have to deal with Fish and Wildlife officers.

Keep your PAL on you, like a Driver's license and keep your registration and ATT with your guns, if applicable. Make sure they are transported as per the requirements of the CCC, and you should never have a problem. But oversights by a careless owner (not a hardened criminal bent on using a gun to commit crime) could be unfortunate.

Sweet revenge on the TTC union employees!1!1!! Impound the subway and the driver goes to Jail! Auctioning off subway cars would attract a lot of international attention from cities like NewYork and Japan! Big pat on your back Davey Miller!
