500 lumens vs 225 lumens??

i recently read about another post in here about the new fenix tk10 flashlight. i did some research and i was about to buy one when i came across this:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1317

i thought to myself. $25 for 500 lumens???
vs
fenix's $75 for 225 lumens..

so whats your opinion?
why should i get the fenix if its more money for less lumens?
besides..
- the fenix can be "everyday carried"
- fenix is brand name quality assured, but ultrafire is not bad either

am i missing something here?

review of tk10:

What are you planning to use this thing for?

If you're intending to use it at a night CQB game, NEITHER! I like my retina's!

I would actually recommended the Fenix over the Ultrafire. I have an N1 Ultrafire and it is GREAT! 65 Lumens, sturdy build and looks sweet too. But, the Ultrafire you're looking at is using a special battery, not that the CR123 isn't a special battery all its own, but it IS one you can find in most drug stores now a days, where the other you'd have to go to specialty stores ((unless someone can confirm otherwise as I don't normally see any 18650 batteries at the local Shopper's.

Also, at 500 Lumens you're not going to be looking at a very long working lifespan of the batteries. 225 lumens is MORE than enough light from a hand held torch.

I found that to be a very informative site on understanding figures one'd typically find on flashlights. Simply looking at lumens is not a good gauge of a flashlight's quality or usefulness.

hmmm.. good point about the cqb games part..
i guess i will stick with my surefire g2 for that.

i'm using some surefire knocked off from china with solarforce brand, it comes with cree q5 led bulb 270lumens (well they said so on ebay), i love it very much for dark cqb session, it gives chills to opponents like telling them "hey i spot your ass"

The 2 technologies are completely different, the Ultrafire has an Xenon incandescent bulb where as the the Fenix is a LED CREE Q5, one of the brightest single diode LEDs available.

The bulbs cost the same, around 8 bucks, you are basically paying for the quality of the body.

Actually, Ultrafire has been switching to CREE as well. Most of their newer models use that LED, only a few still use Xenon or a LED/Xenon combo.

I own one, no complaints for what I paid for.

I use this as my EDC:
http://www.dexlight.com/

Only $46 at DealExtreme: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2888

With tons of modes, and best of all, support for AA batteries. I picked up some rechargeable 3.7v Li-Ion AA sized cells from DX and the Dexlight can support the overvoltage for some blinding EDC candlepower.
