G36 flash hider thingy
Sorry for the stupid thread title. I recently bought a G36 long front end kit and the flash hider it came with has some sort of clip inside with a hole in it. Almost like it's intended to hold the inner barrel in place inside the flash hider, but the hole is much too small to fit the inner barrel through. My gun doctor said it wasn't attached and seemed to come out easy enough, so I'm not sure it's even required. Any idea what the clip is for or how it works?
Thanks. Wayne It's the little clip thing to the right of the flash hider in this photo. Last edited by twsmith; November 27th, 2007 at 10:58.. Reason: add picture |

I assume you got it from Huang, so maybe you'd wanna ask him.
By the way, what manufacturer's G36 did you get that set for? If it's a TM G36C, how do the colours match? |

I'd guess it's to secure the roll pin in the handguard.

Is the roll pin the pin that holds the handguard on? It seems kind of unnecessary as once I get a small battery installed and the foregrip in place, it's all I can do to force the pin through, it definitely isn't going anywhere.

Nothing too strange. The plastic plate helps hold the extended outer barrel more solidly in the handgrip, and I believe the other piece is a bayonet mount. The only piece I'm curious about is that little clip. I'll have to check if the hole is the same size as the roll pin.

Hmmm, maybe I'll drop another one and watch where it goes, then I'll know where the first one went. |

Good point.
I ended up drilling a small hole in the end of mine so I can put a cotter pin through it. Last edited by twsmith; November 27th, 2007 at 14:31.. |

Check this out in the back of the G&P site, roll pin with spring.

The foreguard pin on my g36 has an o-ring to help hold the pin in place. I suspect that that small piece might have some thing to do w/ holding the batt, wire inside the fore grip. Just a guess. Could you make a larger pic of that part?
