Where can I find this Canadian rucksack?
I'm in need of a new rucksack so I thought it would be a cool idea to get a Canadian Forces one... I have 2 questions... I read somewhere that selling/owning/buying Canadian uniforms/equipment is illegal...? But i dont understand this because there are so many army surplus stores selling stuff? Can anyone explain?
So where can I find this standard canadian forces rucksack? heres a pic http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/Chief_L...731&Photo=7008 does anyone know if there is a specific name for it, or if there are more than one rucksacks used by the forces? or what company makes them? or where I can find one? any help would be appreciated. thanks! |

So, what are they using now for backpacks? or do you mean that it just hasn't been released to the public or something?

Nope, that rucksack hasn't been released to the Army, much less the public, and AFAIK is being binned anyway.
For now and for the past 20 someodd years they've been using the P82 rucksack, a VERY cheap alternative and a VERY available pack. Go to any local surplus shop and they should have a good selection of them. Very basic external frame rucksack and valice that'll let you carry whatever you need for the trip. Oh and don't worry about the legalities of owning/etc.. CF kit, that only applies to the CADPAT kit.

I use one of these. It's based on the old 64 pattern ruck, but it's a lot roomier. If you get the CP Gear valise as well you'll have a pretty kickass ruck. Much better than the new one we're supposed to be issued which sucks ass. The only time I've ever seen a new one is during trials in the late 90's. Never seen it since.

Good luck finding one. If you do, it'll probably be around $500-$700. They are pretty big and have room to add pouches. There is quite a bit of padding on them so they're comfortable. I've heard them reffered to as the "large pack". I've seen one and tried it on somewhere but I can't remember where. It may have been at the auto show or something in one of the military displays. Maybe it was the EX. Whatever. Nice pack in my opinion.

Well this new one looks so good mybe I should wait? hopfully it wont be more than a year? but if its been since the 90s, mybe i shouldn't... I dont kno wwhy it would take that long.
Anyways, anybody know of any other modern packs? I did a search for a german rucksack couldnt find anything... probably if i could search it in german i would though. If anyoen knows any good large packs, please post! thanks |
