Electric vs Gas
I am a total newbie to airsoft and I have been looking at some different types of airsoft weapons. I find there are two types Gas and Electric. Which is more popular, better, and some explainations on why?
My own thoughts are that electric would be better as you can swap out battery packs quicker and probably easiler than gas ones. |

Depends what you're going for...
If you want something automatic, like a nice rifle, ESPECIALLY able to go full-auto, go with electric. If you had an auto that relied on gas, you would go through a lot of gas, but it would look awesome. There are some out there, but I doubt you'd be able to get your hands on them. If you want a pistol, go Gas Blow Back.. From what I know about EBBs(Electric Blow Backs), they are complete crap and are inferior to GBBs. |

Little things you should know:
#1 To buy/play Airsoft you need to be 18 years old. #2 Airsoft is expensive to start playing. #3 The wallmart/Canadian Tire bb guns are clearsoft/softair and are not considered Airsoft. #4 You can't import airsoft guns. Customs will catch them and destroy them. #5 If you get age verified, you can buy from the people on this forum. |

For most assault rifles electric is pretty much the only way to go. You can find some old and a few newer gas rifles but they are pretty rare in Canada and parts aren't easy to come by.
So pretty much for your main rifle your most likely going to be looking at an electric gun a sidearm will most likely be gas although TM's AEP's are nice. sniper rifles can be ether gas, electric, or spring depending on the gun and what role you want to fill with it. |

I would go for the AEGs myself,
nice to see someone older than myself(now I feel younger). I use stock brand name AEGs with the exception being the C.A. AEG that I have (I had to replace the piston in it as the plastic it used is to brittle) I like the T.M. AEGs the best then C.A. followed up by the T.M. clones. All of which I have. |
