Uncommon accoutrements to aid in game play (question about)

Hey folks

The main question I have is related to whether or not it's kosher to use prop items in airsoft to aid/enhance your airsofting experience. Like for example what's the average take on fake knives/bayonets?

I bought mine just for show reasons but I was thinking if in that rare/non rare case where you get the drop on someone and you want to be fancy about it or you ran out of battery/bb's/gas for your gun, what would be the general concensus on running your fake plastic blade accross the back of someone's arm as a means to win?

Or how about shields? I see them from time to time in game pictures while I'm chairsofting away and have always wondered what the popularity of them is like and how many times event organizers have said no or yes when people bring them out to games.

I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't find the posts about them if these questions have been asked already.

If things were such that I was at an event and someone were to "knife" me, I'd probably be cool with it myself, unless of course they wanted to pull a real dick move and jab the point into my neck whether they realized they were being an ass or not, but over all, I'd probably be cool with allowing knife props in game play.

I carry a 26 inch expandable baton with me, but only cause its part of the drop leg holster set up I have. I never pull it out during a game and its purley only for looks.

As for knife kills, usually running two fingers across someones back side or politley tapping them on the shoulder is good enough for me. I know some guys that for the look of it carry the rubber knives cause it adds to the look of things.

Knives in MOST cases are ONLY allowed if they are rubber (maybe even plastic).
I myself have a Real steel M9 Bayonette for show + Survival tool but for A/S ONLY my Rubber M9 is drawn.

Shields are rarely used in Outdoors games. Realisitcally soldiers dont carry a shield on their back when they are on a field. CQB or indoor games they may be accepted, but you should ask the organizer first, because its their say wether its a go or nogo.

As for props, anything usually is a go, however you should be aware, props weigh too, and from my experience (cause im a gearwhore) All that useless gear weighs you down.

Questions about rules/props should be brought up with the host of the game you intend on attending. They are the only ones that can ok the use of a particular prop for a game. As a general rule of thumb so long as the prop is SAFE and all players are aware of the use/rules of the prop, then it should be ok. Again I just want to point out, if you want to use a prop at a particular event discuss it with the host of said event to make sure it is ok with everyone.

I have no issue with people using rubber knives... I think everyone should have one...

For me, For CQB... heck for anything... Primary... SMG or Rifle.. Secondary Pistol, holdback... knife...

I have run many scenarios at TTAC3 where knives have figured large in the outcome...

Shields are a different beast... if someone wants to use a shield ... it has to replicate the handeling and properties of a real one... meaning heavy and bullet resistant... not bullet proof... so far no one has come up with a shield that meets the criteria.

Whys that? If your going for realism, a lot of Soldiers don't even carry bayonets all the time.

I could see not carrying a bayonet.... but no knife.... I don't know of anyone who spends any amount of time outdoors that would not carry a knife....

And going into a combat environment without at least a ulility blade... you're kidding right?

Hmmm... How about a heavy welded steel bar outer frame that supports a few layers of heavy corrugated cardboard? Unwieldy if the frame weighs as much as the real deal, and most of the covered area would be penetrated by sustained fire or particularly powerful hits. The rim would be strong enough to be rested on surfaced and dinged about, but if it's narrow enough it would offer negligible solid cover.

knives are excellent. nothing says 7331 like knifing a sniper team! And after scarfing down some Flag raider snausages a good knife fight in the dust of the safe zone! Eye protection recommended, and a small wager or two adds realism lol.

My very airsoft game a hot shot pulled a rubber knife on me in the safe zone.
Only I didn't know it was a rubber knife - caught it in my peripheral vision.
I wound up with rubber knife wedged between my upper arm & my rib cage...
...and he wound up on his ass trying to remember how to breathe.
Hey, all I caught a glimpse of was a black Tanto blade coming at me...
Then they told me they allowed rubber knives.

Been thinking of picking one up.

Any local (Canadian) dealer in rubber combat knives?

Sorry if it seemed like I was saying no one carry's a knife. Everyone I know either carries a knife they picked up somewhere or just use the issued Gerber Multitool since they have their uses. Bayonet's though arent something carried all the time. I know I don't carry a bayonet on my chest rig. No good place to attach it(least from what I've tried), I carry enough stuff on me, don't need any extra stuff daggaling off my rig an poking me, an I don't think I'll ever need to fix bayonets or whatever overseas.
