Compilation of a "Gear Guide"
Folks,
I've been working on a compilation of gear reviews to create a "Gear Guide". As such, I need some reviews of popular makes and models of equipment, preferrably by those who've used the equipment extensively and have enough background to judge one product over another. In particular, I'm looking for the other gear heads to sound off here. I'm covering current load carrying equipment systems (MOLLE systems or other modular designs) such as chest harnesses, sub loads, first line / second line / thrid line systems, pros and cons of chest harnesses versus plate carriers versus tactical vests versus releaseable armor, etc. Anyone interested in participating in the project should let me know via PM. Again, I need REAL REVIEWS, not comentary by some noob who thinks their SAV vest, milforce holster or LBV-88 is the absofuckinglutely last word is high-speed MCLMM equipment. It would be beneficial if you have real-world experience with combat loadouts as this guide is not intended specifically for airsoft use. Batman? Matty? Eggroll? Farmboy? Yuxi? STAT? Other gearheads I don't know about....sound off folks, I need your input. Free goodies for quality reviews. Here is an example of the kind of thing I'm looking for: Quote:

One of the common things we continue to hear from guys, here and overseas, is the ease of use of the TAG/Paraclete attachment system for pouches.
Other systems include: Eagles strap with snap Malice clips (used by almost every one) MULES (used by Drop Zone) Speed Clips (I think they are called, by Blackhawk) I might not have time to write something for you but if someone wants to run with this, by all means.

I defenitly love the Praclete system, simple and not pron to malfunction due to a snap botton failure.
One thing I noticed when it comes to paraclete system over others, is that reconfiguring your rig is much faster. Quote:

The Paraclete has proven particularly popular, given copyright/trademark and patent issues surrounding the use of MOLLE points. I don't beleive Paraclete has patented their attachment system.
Kwok - any insight? You still here? |

I have some Paraclete gear; not a big fan of their attachment system though. I prefer the system SORD uses with the velcro at the end of the strap. The little loop pull-tab that Paraclete uses is a real PITA when you want to reconfigure as it jams up at every single MOLLE loop. Paraclete gear on the other hand is pretty solid overall. |

The Paraclete system is patented. TAG pays a royalty for using almost the same system. It has a tab instead of the ring, which works much better for removing it.

You MUST point people in the direction of Military Morons! I know most people are familiar with it, but it's such a well done high speed gear review site that it has to be included.

Hey Morb, I did an alternate review (meaning, the Military Morons one covered a LOT) last year for ASC on the Drop Zone Recce Smock that you can use if you think it's worthy.
