Prescription Sports Eyewear

Going for a eye exam and have been looking at getting prescription sports eye wear. I was wondering if any one else has been using a prescription sports eye wear product and can recommend a model or brand I should look at ?

Many members of my team use ESS. The RX Nylon insert goes well with the ICEshield and/or Profile googles. For the V12, it's the Vice insert. Everyones is happy with them.

I had prescription inserts made for my Profile goggles and the distortion was so bad as to be completely useless.

Then the optician got the spacing on your eyes wrong.
I had the same problem with my Bolles. when I got a prescription insert for the ESS Turbofan I brought the goggles along. No problem.

Contacts.... and then whatever eye protection you would normally wear for a given sport.

Specifically look at the daily use type so you can use them the day of said sport and then throw them out at night. Alternatively you could go with something like the Focus Night & Day contacts, I use these and wear them for 3-7 days at a time (they are gas permeable, this is safe, they are designed for a month without taking them out).

I can't get contact lens in my prescription, other wise I would just stick with my current goggles.

If I can't find or get ESS , all sports eye wear has polycarbonate lenes, how thick do they need to be to be ballistic rated or airsoft rated? I'm looking at another brand the optical place has and the seal around the eyes is very good and light and comfortable plus compact and not to expensive($140 with RX lenses hard coated ).

Most likely no one will let you play with those. On a side note, contact prescriptions are a different strength than the ones for your glasses. Unless your doctor has said you can't, the you should check it out. The other option is Lasik...

Bolle t-800's. You can get a rX insert for them.

I second that. I have a pair of inserts that go in my ESS Profiler goggles and the doc made me try them on in the office to find out where the centre of my eye's were. After two days he called me back and I tried them on with the goggles and they are great. Now I only need to hope the turbofan really does help fogging.
