M4 Longbow question
I'm trying to take apart an M4 I've had for ages. It's got the shorty longbow front end. Problem is, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get the longbow adapter off of the upper receiver.
Like, the longbow handguard screws onto an adapter, which goes on the upper receiver where the handguard would normally be attached. I just can't unscrew the damn adapter collar. It's on there with such a vengeance that I'm wondering if maybe there's some trick to getting it off. Anyone who has experience with longbow kits, your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! --Pete/MG |

I've had a bit of problem removing mine sometimes. There's not much grip on the collar. If you have some kind of pin/peg you can fit in the holes (i've used small screwdrivers held together with a vise-grip) you can use that to get a bit more torque to turn it.
If it's really been overtightened, you can try sticking it into the freezer for about half an hour. Works fine with metal, but if you have a plastic receiver be extra careful.
