paint removeing

hey, ive got a plastic body that i need to remove a layer of spray paint off. i want to remove the paint and return it to its origional base color, i have heard that wd40 does the trick by stripping the paint, but is that true? is there another method?

well id try WD40 before anything else.. i don`t think it would hurt the plastic, but i`m not 100%. as something like paint remover would probably mess the finish of the plastic up!

Hmmm I find nail polish remover works quite well when I accidently got spray paint on my plastic window sill. But I'm not too sure if its too friendly on plastic.

i dunno you think it would be ok on it, its pretty strong stuff...

Don't use a power paint thinner, it'll damage the plastic and remove original markings. I know this from experience.

I've had alot of experience removing paint from plastic and metals.

Your safest/best option is a product sold in the automotive isle in Crappy Tire, it's a degreaser spray product... the name escapes me... it's in a purple and black bottle.

Model toy game nerds use this product to safely strip their painted figures.
Google the topic and you find the product in one of these sites.

Easy Off! oven cleaner. I had used it to strip paint on my model kits and Aeg.

Yep. Easy-off.

You could also go to http://Armorama.com and look around there. Lots of various ways to remove the paint, Easy-off being one of the most popular, or brake fluid.

Shouldn't, but thats where a mild spray paint of the colour you want after comes in.

Hey bud, if you do use the degreaser trigger spray, be sure to wear gloves as the stuff will ravage your skin by sucking out all the natural oils and moisture. Doesn't hurt, but your hands will look like a decrepid mummy's

Just an FYI— I used it on some stock painted TM plastic parts and all the fibreglass/plastic on a Maruzen CA 870 to remove cammo paint jobs. The plastic was perfect afterward, actually looked nicer.

The Stuff is called castrol super-clean. works well if its an acrylic paint. If its enamal paint your stuck with thinners.

That's the stuff!

Worked on enamel rust paint and other enamel sprays I had to remove... with some minor scrubbing with a dish pad
