How can i tell if a gun is a fake?
Hi there!
I was searching around the internet trying to find some way of identifying whether a new gun i purchased recently is a big greasy fake or just not a fantastic replica. I didn't manage to find what i was looking for but i did find this fascinating forum. My question is: How can i find out if my new Marui Desert eagle spring pistol is fake? the packaging seems real and it came with the marui product magazine but the gun itself feels tinny/plastic and of poor build quality. It doesn't seem indicative of Marui's usual highly detailed products (i have a centimeter master spring pistol from Marui also and it feels and shoots great!) Cheers for your time! |

dig up reviews of the TM deagle on google, look for missing trademarks. I own a TM deagle and i consider the quality great.
The grip is a slightly rubberized plastic. Reads on the side made in japan (I.M.I) isreali military industries. Lastly when you remove the slide it is 90% of the weight of the gun (minus the mag) Hope this helps, it may just be you? -alex |

the one i got was a horrible sheeny plastic, no discernible grip plates at all let alone rubberized and the mag is 90% missing. all there is for a magazine is a stalk with a spring in it. i cant find the Marui trademark anywhere on the gun either ...

Rather stupidly, i must admit, through the Trademe (Auction site) from a seller with lots of supposedly successful sales.
He currently has a number of them still on the site. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Hunt...-83559486.html the polystyrene is also White instead of the usual browny red im accustomed to seeing with Marui brand guns EDIT: i just had a look in the magazine that came with it and it even looks completely different in there! There is no sheen, the red pain on the safety is there, the barrel opening is substantially larger and the magazine is a full sized one. Last edited by sporb; January 7th, 2007 at 23:15.. |

I think you got an EBB, and those are universally pure crap no matter who makes it.
If you think the other EBB is great, I am sorry to burst your bubble because they dont even come close to the usual Marui made gas pistols. |

Is EBB a brand name? or is it a gas gun? definately not gas, its piss weak and hop-up less to the max. If it was gas i think it would have exploded first shot, the plastic is that rude.

EBB stands for electric blow back. It uses a battery and the slide moves when it shoots.
Our FAQ's describe some of the more common terms and equipment choices.

Your gun sounds exactly like an Electric Blow Back, complete with the thin tube magazine.
What we're guessing that you bought is the lowest possible quality gun out there. If you had bought a Marui AEP (Automatic Electric Pistol) it would be a far different quality level. And if you had bought a gas powered pistol, it would be again far better and you'd know the difference with no doubt in your mind. They claim that the EBB has hopup, and maybe it does, but it is fixed. Non-adjustable. There are no upgrades that can last for it either. Your only solution, sad to say, is never to buy such a thing again and stick to the higher quality merchandise. What happened to you is simple; you got what you paid for. In other words, you got suckered. PS, if you dont want people to guess where you live, add your country to your profile. The laws vary all over the world, our laws wont apply to you, and it reduces the guesswork. |
