*MOD NEEDED* Marui SR16 + GP Crane Stock battery

Hey guys, I just had an odd experience.
I finished rewiring my SR16 from tamiya to deans connectors.
I charged my GP 2200MAH nihm battery. I plug it to my SR16, after a few clicks... nothing is working.

You can hear the click from the motor. Here's the other funny part, my battery melted. Pretty much damaged my GP Crane stock... I threw the battery away because it was so badly melted.
Any help would be appreciated... thanks.

Nope, I didn't do that.
I'll get another battery and have a second test. This time I'll see if motor is turning at all like Groombug said.

I got some advice from both Groombug and Manchovie LOVE YOU BOTH!!
Thanks for the input guys, I'll follow up with an update when I get another battery.. kinda broke now... just bought an Marui AUG...

I think you'v shorted the battery some were along the install, double check your (Pos.) & (Neg.) and look for nic's in the wires making a short too ground! Somthing was crossed at some point, like the (Pos.) in contacting ground (ie.gear box,or Reciver) in the unit.

Funny, I had a battery do that in my G&P CQBR.

Wired it up, flicked the safety off, pulled the trigger, and freaked out upon seeing large amounts of smoke emanating from the crane stock. The shrink wrap on the battery was melted in a couple of spots.

It's never happened again, and I still don't know what caused it.

Vatek, that's the same problem I had actually, except I pressed it more than a few triggers lol.
How did you overcome the problem?

It sounds like there's a short somewhere along your circuit.

I'll check on that, but everything is shrink tubed, no wires coming out.
Both wires are shrinked tube seperately, I'll take some pics when I take it down.

Your wiring is likely shorted in the buffer tube, just at the body/buffer joint or at the tube bolt/washer. It happened to me once with a Star crane stock. It doesn't take much of a burr or sharp edge on metal to slice right through silicone insulation.

Take the stock tube off and inspect the wiring very carefully. bend it sharply every 1/4 inch or so and look for any cuts, nicks or blackened or melted insulation. It should be real easy to find the problem area.

It seems like you guys were correct.
Some part of the shrink tube were cut through. There's a tiny piece of wire that sticked out, seems like the part where I soldered. it's so smalled that I only caught it when I looked up very closely.

I'll keep you guys updated...

It only happened to me once in September, haven't had a problem since. I need to open up the gearbox and check the wiring one of these days, but the gun's not getting used for a while, so I've been lazy about it.

I emailed GP yesterday and they got back to me this morning, they want to send me a brand new battery and crane stock to replace my damaged ones. Pretty cool guys, good PR.
could anyone provide me a picture of their lower receiver?
More specifically, the place where you guys filed down for the wires to past.
I think I will need to cut more on my guarder body for the wires to go through smoothly another way.
Thanks.

I notice that this typically happens if you follow G&P's instructions and splice in the wiring harness connection... I think this is the WORST way to run the wiring.

I prefer to lay down a brand new uninterrupted line of wiring from the trigger assembly all the way to the back. It costs about $4 in total for 16 AWG hobby quality low resistance silicone coated wiring and saves you from more money, headaches and safety hazards.

The risks involved with a spliced connection are too high and I don't recommend it.
