Battery in CA36K?
What are people using in there CA36K's? Im using a mini 8.4V 1200mah, at a 30A discharge rate. However their is so much more space! Ive heard AK batteries will fit in the E, but im not sure about the K. Ive also heard of a custom battery for it, but have yet been able to find any. So what has been the best choice so far. And no not really caring for the sniper stock, i prefer to keep it as stock as possible.

First off there is no E version, theres the G36, G36k and G36c. E is added to any H&K gun that is exported so a G36E would be a G36 designed for export, there are also G36KE's.
AK batteries use the same cells as mini cells so theres no advantage there. Your battery may be listed at 30A discharge but thats probably the maximum safe discharge, I doubt your motor sucks 30A out of it considering stock fuses in AEG's are 15-20A. I did some measuring and the maximum battery size that will fit will only gives you around 1700mAh with NiMH cells, same batteries as a crane stock, A size cells I believe. Personally I don't like front heavy guns, added a battery stock to my CA36 and it actually looks really good, makes the gun more visually and aesthetically balanced and also brings the center of balance further back making it easier to wield. You can get 1400mAh mini's so 1700 ain't that much greater. Since you have the K you can get a large hand grip (wasn't an option for my as the large hand grip is only for the C and K versions) and fit in a large 8.4V 4200mAh battery or even a large 9.6V if you want. I have the G&P battery stock, its designed for a TM gun but fit onto my CA36 better than my First Factory sling point tactical end cap fit onto my TM G36c. sorry, i would've been better off just saying CA36 but then people get asking which one i mean. yes E designates the Export that does not include the two tier optic system. G36 full length dual optic, G36K mid length dual optic, G36E full length with only the 3.5X sight, etc etc.
I am right, as the CA36 is only available with the 3.5X, thus making it an Exported G36. |

Actually the CA36 has the same 1.5x single optics as the CA36K, I was expecting the 3.5x since thats what it was advertised as having but it wasn't, my serial number is 000029 so I don't know if its an early production thing or not.
You could also stick an AN/PEQ2 on the side of the hand guard on a rail for larger battery capacity. I still say the battery butt stock is the best solution and because of the ver.3 gearbox design all you need is a cable extender, no need to open the mechbox to wire it out the back like ver.2's. Also I say G36 if I mean G36, if someone asks I tell them that if I meant G36c I would have said G36c, not everyone in the world gets all hot and bothered over carbines [/venting] (not directed at you) Last edited by LUTNIT; December 4th, 2006 at 02:10.. |

i've got an stick style battery (basically looks like 2 minis stuck together on ends) 8.4V 2600mah for my G36K... so far the gun doesn't like the battery lol.

yeah, some people are picky, thanks for clarifying wear that was going. Really? only a 1.5X? i must be thinking of the star.
Also, with the 2600mah, how does the gun not like the battery? Space issues? |

I'm currently using an Intellect 9.6V 1400mah NiMH mini battery in the handguard of my G36C. You should go for the set-up I'm using. The battery is able to push out 360fps (.2g BB) with a great rof and trigger response.
I've also change all battery connections to deans which helped out in eliminating unecessary electrical resistance. INT-96-1400M Intellect 9.6V 1400mAh - Mini Type ( Ni-MH )

that sounds like a good idea. I know it doent fill all the space in the handguard, but its a nice improvement,

Wanna do a group order wizard? Would be through great hobbies. They sell deans.

measure the space you have. Make sure you underestimate like a son of a gun.
I have a buddy that can make packs if we buy the cells. Some are cheaper to buy made and some are cheaper to buy from a custom battery place. When you get an idea of what you want I can send a few emails and find the price. |

You can get deans connectors in bulk (10+ pairs, eBay is your friend) for $1.50-$2.00 per pair, most hobby shops charge $3-7 per pair.
Great hobbies prices don't seem to be that exceptional, they want CDN$90 for a pack you can get from cheapbatterypacks.com for US$50. CBP's orders that I've placed have always arrived within 2 weeks and I've never been charged customs even on a US$150 order. 9.6V 1400mAh mini pack with a deans connector and 16aWg wire will cost you US$24 from CBP's, I cant even find 1400mAh packs on great hobbies, do they have a custom pack feature I'm missing? Also because of the gap in the outer barrel at the beginning of the handguard you can fit 2/3A (0.66" diameter) battery packs in it, anything that goes further down the handguard needs to be a smaller diameter. I checked and the only thing that will fit two rows down the entire handguard are AA size (0.56" diameter) which only come up to 1650mAh (you can get 2300mAh AA's from The Source but they don't have the voltage to push a motor), you can get 1400mAh out of a 2/3A pack (standard mini pack) so theres not really much of a bonus. I put a lot of time into thinking about it before I ordered my battery stock and there is no real way to get a greatly increased mAh battery pack in there unless you get an AN/PEQ2, large hand grip, or a battery stock. I don't even think the battery pack you linked to will fit because of the outer barrel. So either get a battery stock or large hand guard, or stick with a 9.6V 1400mAh like Raygis LasVegas said. the gun doesn't like it because it causes the piston to sieze for some odd reason. i'd take it apart to find out why, maybe it's a worn tooth, but i'm too chickenshit to open my mechbox lol.

CA pistons/piston heads are made out of the cheapest dollar store toy plastic that exists, if your piston was cracked and jamming it wouldn't surprise me in the least. I replaced mine with a stock TM one, once/if it breaks I'll get a polycarb one.
Also in the manual for the CA36 series it says that you have to use a high quality 1200-1400mAh 8.4V pack, the manual says the gun won't run on cheaper NiMh packs or NiCd packs at all. Last edited by LUTNIT; December 4th, 2006 at 17:09.. |
