Exclamation Paint Matching for Metal Slide.

Hello all.

I was wondering if there was any place anyone would recommend for me to bring a metal slide of a GBB to have them reproduce the colour in a spray paint can?

I can only take the slide apart and that is the only part I want to have the colour matched. I know CT, Rona, HD does it but I really dont want to bring the slide there since its too public.

If anyone has any hookups please help me out. Quality is a must.

Thanks!

Get it powder-coated. It lasts way longer than paint and is far more durable. They can powder coat in any colour of finish type you want. It can be either smooth or textured.

I would think there would be lots of place in the GTA that do powder coating. A little more money, but far better.

Take it to a car shop...or better... notch an extra piece of paint (from under or whatever...) and bring-it to the paintshop... I had an uncle working in one and he did awesome replicas of paint colors for me... exact same finish, exact same color... everything!

THanks!

I tied what you're thinking. I went to UAP/NAPA and got a can colour matched and put in an aerosal can. It cost me $40 and the colour was off slightly. I could have paid $50/hr. for a paint shop to match it, with no time maximum. Then the can of primer cost me $25. I tried 1 coat of each.

You could flake it off with your fingernail, meaning it didn't adhere to the slide at all. Powdercoating is still the best option IMHO. That's what they do to car amplifier heatsink and you have to grind that shit off, or bead-blast it.

Hey Mc! I tried the powder coating route. I contacted some companies here and they said they dont do such things for small items. There was one company but their overhead cost was 200 bucks...

I might try some paint shops around here see if they do touch ups...

Yes you can. This is what I am talking about.

BTW my uncle works at UAP/Napa, in the paintshop in the industrial zone of the city.

Keep in mind that powdercoating is thicker than paint. You would most likely need to remove it in the close tolerance areas. I also don't think that they can perfectly colour match powdercoat. I used to work in an auto finishing plant and I believe that colours are limited.
