SIG 550 Issue

I was wondering if there are others out here that can help me with reducing the creaks and other noises that the plastic furniture ( Barrel covers ) give off. I have thought about wrapping the covers, but this is a sloppy approach. The Butt stock has been filled with an expanding foam so that was okay, but since the battery must be removed constantly ( small stick batt.) I cannot do the same. Hope to hear from someone with good ideas...

Isn't the SIG 550 very old?
Might wanna invest in something new or the new type 89 if you want something solid!
I dont hear any creaks from my g36c. Everything seems to fit well and nicely. Your Sig 550 has that stock wobble or creaky noise right? You might wanna get the 551 instead, I think it fixes that problem. But thats if you only really really want the sig.
It's not a popular gun in the field... Invest in a newer gun! :-D

Yeah. 552. Yeah he should get the 89 or something newer from TM.
Alot of the guns now don't have any problems. All of them hold up stiff. Like my g36c! :-D

Basicly theres nothing, much you can do, unless you can find some like re-enforced parts from guader or something. Like parts made from other then TM.
I have a Mp5A4, and basicly the same thing happend. I got the flashlight grip from guader. no more creaking

But, ya just asking how did you get your hands on a 550? in the 1st place?

Thanks Guys, No matter I really appreciate the advice; I found this one sitting in the backroom at a local surplus store. I have always wanted to try an AEG , but have never been able to afford a real nice new one. So in effect this is my first AEG , and I picked it up more or less to harass the squirrels and racoons in my backyard. It was never meant to be a skirmish toy, and I have an SKS for that. I like the 3 burst option available but find singleshot more effective. Anyways I wanted to know if others have had this type of problem, but have set out to make it into a rainy day hobby gun and improve it over time. Thanks again guys ( Yeah I wish I could afford to buy New) Best wishes guys ......Bearbait

well locktite, and shoe goo go a long way... if you can spray or coat the parts that touch each other with some kind of rubberised material? It would create a barrier between the two pieces of plastic and prevent the creaking... be a long job but something to keep you busy. Shoe goo on the barrel and where it connects to the reciever will keep it in place, pretty much premanently so I guess you have to toss up whether you want to do that or not....

O man.. Dont worry I did the same thing, I was going to get a Sig 551 as a first AEG and it was used. It was costing me 300$. However I saved up $150 more and I got myself a brand new G36C.
Started out with so little money. And I didnt want to spend alot.. However I ended up unloading 2000$ and more on just airsoft! Welcome to the sport! Hahaha.
Where are you located by the way?
Maybe some of hte guys here could give you a hand with that gun and get you hooked in airsoft

I looked up some sites on reinforcing plastic parts using a fiber based spray; (maybe build up the inside walls slightly) , this may prove a bit costly, but thats what its all about. Ha Ha bought this one while the wife and kids are away in L.A. ; I found the Hurricane metal body and rail combo. I'm out here in Vancouver, so I have alot of information which is a plus.
As for games , right now just starting out but am sure to get involved a little deeper as this goes on. Dude Great idea for placing Loctite and Shoe goo, got a little of both in the closet. I'm gonna start off with a thin rubber gasket and see where it goes to, I will place my findings in the other forum section in case anyone wants to read up later.... Again Gentlemen Thank you , I'm glad I went Airsoft.......Bearbait

Good find on the 550, I've been looking for one since I bought my 551 8 years ago, I had rear stock creak on mine too(modded an m-4 stock onto it-no more creak) with the fore grip creak I mounted a couple of rails for accessories, and the creak went away, I found the creak is mostly from the two halves rubbing together, silicone spray worked also but you half to keep applying it often. Don't know if that helps any but that's what I found to work.

Hey Mighty Bubba: Wondered when I was gonna hear from you, I've seen your Sigs on the Gallery, Very Nice collection. When I got the 550 , It was in a Back room on a shelf at a local Surplus store, I really liked it other than the fact that It had a cracked buttstock right at the joint; I did my inner repair (Reinforced)and outside fiberglass routine. Its extremly "SOLID" now and even reinforced inside the Forearms to give it a more rigid feel; when I get the Hurricane metal body I will feel better.
I wanna also have a Longer bull barrel built for it . "Hey" , what would you recommend to form a RAS for this Rifle??

Ya I'm wanting to get the metal body as well, cost is just ridiculous right now. As for the RAS all I got was a couple of different rails VSR-10 rails for the top and bottom and G36 rails for the sides.

Cool; Hey it's hard finding stuff that works wit this rifle. I Think you might have an easier time wit the metal body, as the Hurricane dosn't seem to have the triple burst setting; LOL somebody was mentioning somthing about doing some grinding to get it to set to triple burst.

No problem a Quick zip with the dremel would put the extra notch in.
