Quick question on G&G products.

SPecificaly, i would like to know about the gear box quality of the G&G GR16R5.
How much fps could i push this gun before i would have to upgrade any internal parts besides the spring?

Thank you for visiting this forum

check some of the reviews in the review section.

as for FPS...the basic rule of thumb is 400fps...anything higher and your going to run into problems sooner or later.

If you buy any G&G product you can expect problems with the internals

I second that. I have a GG GR16 R5 and I played with a few times and my gears are already stripped, I have to change them. GG products are way too expensive for their quality. You better buy an ICS or CA. The internals of GG are very weak.

G&G's are some of the best looking and realistic guns on the market but they have huge problems internally if you want the G&G really bad the you can buy it and imediatly install a systema gearbox and a new hop-up system and that should solve most of the problems but for that much moneyyou'd be better off buying ICS and upgrading or pimping it out...thats just my 2 cents tho

G&G 2005 models are just fine. ONLY the first batch that you will run into problems. G&G already corrected their mistakes on the newer models so no need to worry about upgrading only downgrading. The newer versions shoot around 400+fps.

Bah, G&G is a risky option, they have crappy hopups and the magnesium alloy they are built with is flimsy compared to other metal bodies, but it does come with better internals than a TM or ICS. As far as overall durability, mine hasnt crapped out on me...yet.

G&G has internals on par or less than Marui and less quality than ICS by a longshot. They do bizzare things as well, like screws on the left side of the mechbox (everybody else is on the right) and don't count on Systema mechboxes fitting either. Tried one and no go at all. Same mechbox worked like a dream in a C.A. metal body.

I wouldn't spend somebody else's money on a G&G. I've worked on too many for my liking.

I just meant that it comes with things like a higher tension spring (M100?), 6.035 tightbore and other goodies, but I know what you mean as far as quality, I dont trust the mechbox to hold out for long

I got my G&G AK-104 from Tru last Xmas...love the look and the feel of this gun.
After firing over 1000 rounds of BBs in it stock form and see no issues. But I decided to replace most of the parts inside the mech box plus a TM EG1000S motor, now is fully operational for games. I expect this gun to be as realiable as my trusty TM AK-47.
Unfortunately I am not in a position to pass judgement on the G&G GR16R5,instead I am here to provide some feed backs on my G&G AK as a comparsion only.

I have 2 g&g's, one carbine and one R5, and love them both. Have been gaming with them constantly for the last 2 years with the only mods done to them being a new hop up bucking. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I think they are super sturdy.

Version 2005 or greater. If you are from the states you can get them from airsoftGI for a good price they also have the new new versions.

Is the Version 2 (or V2) the 2005 version?
