Palco/BE XM8

I just recently bought a palco xm8, and have found that it is very innacurate, and that the hopup is non functional. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this gun and can help me out. I read on one review (the reviewer had a problem with accuracy too) that the flash supressor was obstructing the path of the bb as it exits the barrel.

By chance, where did you happen to buy it? All I find googling is that it's a cheap piece of junk. (For those curious with what I mean, it comes with a plastic mechbox).

SIR in Winnipeg carries them under the FirePower brand. They're a dark smoke-colored (but still transparent) plastic toy with plastic internals, so yes they're not even TM quality by any standards.

However it does come with a mask, mini battery, charger, BBs, and the gun, and it chronos 275 fps with 0.2g. It's good for farting around or indoors like at XT, but I wouldn't use one outdoors. The plastic body of the gun is also quite durable. We gave one away in our raffle draw at Operation Prairie Wind this past Sunday.

I know that its not up to par with tm, but i only bought it for a fart around gun. So anybody have any clues or tips how to fix my problem (accuracy + non-functional adjustable hopup)? I fired one before i bought mine, and its accuracy was very consistant, so i know that there is definitely something wrong with the one i bought. Everything else is fine though - ROF is great and the mech is very responsive.

Might be a torn hopup membrane that let the hopup bucking out....could also be a misaligned hopup.

Thanks man, but im really quite new into airsoft. What do you mean by a torn hopup membrane? The hopup bucking is the actual rubber tab that give s the ball the backspin right? I had a feeling that that may have fallen out...

How much are they going for at SIR (who's SIR btw?)? I'd be interested in getting one to take apart and mess around with.

Edit: Nevermind, found the URL (http://www.sirmailorder.ca/show_prod...e594d2ff269acf) and the price (Cat. No. 834300 $164.99 btw)

Why would it fall out? Did you take the gun apart?

Please tell me you're not asking us to fix this? http://www.raidentech.com/aigunxm8riai.html

No, thats not the gun, its a Palco xm8 'lpeg'. I am quite new to airsoft so i do not know alot about the internals, just a basic understanding. And no, i havent taken the gun apart yet. My problem is that the hopup is not functioning. Please dont respond telling me that its a crap gun, because i have the right to spend how much money i want

If you could provide me with some advice, it would be greatly appreciated

The inner barrel outer diameter is a bit smaller than a TM or CA unit. I swapped up my inner barrel and hop up assembly with a prometheus barrel and a CA hop unit. CA works, but TM I assume would have better performance. To replace the inner barrel you will need to have it cut and cratered, since the XM8 has a longer barrel length than the G36C.
Incidentally, the slightly larger outer diameter of the inner barrel means that the original hop unit won't fit, but creates a WONDERFUL fit into the outer barrel; absolutely no movement since it is friction fit into the ABS plastic, and resulting shots are quite consistant for an AEG (visually, every shot landed inside of a 2.5 MOA red dot at ~60 feet on my mod-job with a TM G36C mechbox)
only applies if Palco=BE
I know that there are quite a number of companies that are repackaging BE's "design"

out of curiosity, what logo is on the right hand side on the retractable stock? on BE it is a big, ugly circular logo with two elephants which I sanded off and repainted

Thanks for the advice man, but i just want to stick the the stock parts. Did you have a problem with the hopup and/or the innacuracy. I mean, the bb's fly all over!

Oh, and yes, the palco is a carbon copy of the BE, and the logo is not too bold and i hardly notice it. It just says Palco FP8 AEG.

Is it just me, or does that $200 MP5 on SIR look like UTG?

It's features are horribly near what UTG brags about, and it's not unlike Crosman to rebrand it's products.

Heh... Airsoft may turn into a paintball sport yet!

Can't say I have much experience with the stock BE XM8. I ripped my mechbox out shortly after getting it.
For the most part, the parts are interchangable with the TM counterparts; not very useful having plastic gears and whatnot, but the springs, tappet plate, selector lever, etc are quite nice to have as extras.
Have you looked at the actual barrel? Stock BE barrel is (believe it or not) a 6.03 tightbore, although it has HORRIBLE machining; machine marks, burrs, inaccurate cuts all over.

the BE is quite fun to work on; I did all my mods save the inner barrel cutting, at home with an x-acto knife, a file, blood, sweat, and lots and lots of colourful language
=D

To be honest, if airsoft turns into paintball (in terms of acceptibilty/acceptance/ease of buying stuff), I wouldnt complain

And at 275 fps the BE XM8 isn't an LPEG, it's an AEG. Not a fantastic one mind you, but it deserves the title.
