Possible upgrades , Famas
ok here's the deal.
I want to make a Support weapon out of a TM Famas. Here's what I planned to upgrade : Scope mount and Guarder 1x30 Reflex Red Dot Sight G36c rails ( set of 3 long rails ) Smokey's Heavy Duty Bipod New motor ( EG1000 maybe ) Tightbore barrel M100 Spring so , what do you think about that ? Since i'm not an expert in modifications , tell me everything I should know that I dont seem to already know. Every comment will be greatly appreciated |

You will have problems installing a new motor, as no other motor will fit except for the stock motor it comes with.
Severe modification is required to actually put in another type of motor.

really ? so why on the Red Wolf website it says for the EG1000 motor : will fit on any AEG but AK and PSG1 ??
and besides of that , what do you guys think about my mods ? any other that comme in your mind and that would make my Famas look wicked ? |

The motor's actually fine- you can keep that stock, really.
You'll have trouble putting side-rails on it, I find there's not very much free room at the sides, and what free room there is can be obstructed by the bipod, assuming you have the F1. If you have the SV, it's possible, just fairly hard. With anything on the rail of the F1, you probably wouldn't be able to fold down the bipods. Considering you want to get a Smokey's bipod, I assume you'll have the SV. Scope mounts are available at WGC, and are quite efficient. Go for it. As for the M100, it should boost your velocity to the 330 FPS area, as it did for another. No gear/bushing modifications, as far as I know, are needed for this. There will be a slight drop in rate-of-fire, though, but not very much... besides, with 17 RPS, it doesn't really matter. A tightbore is also a good investment, is should boost the velocity and accuracy even more. The last two upgrades, I plan to do on my FA-MAS, the parts have not been ordered, yet. I have already discussed this with you, but that handle (in my opinion) is beastly, and has to go. However, you intend to keep it, so be it. I'm removing mine and replacing it with one from a G36C. You should have it firing at about 350 FPS fairly easily.

ohh ok to get there ? hmm I kinda agree with that. Anyways , since the Famas as a real good ROF in his stock form , I guess its not necessary to buy a new motor

disregard what bob said about bushings. buy them or your gun will shortly become a scrap heap.

ok ok here's the gist of it
after stupidly putting tons of money into making my famas sv into a truley unique gun making the g2 sniper variant out of it i did the following upgrades Gaurder Bushings Systema Shims K2 Soild Piece Cylinder Aluminum And Cylinder Head Gaurder Polycarb Pistol Gaurder Aluminum Piston Head PDI 130% Spring final gun chrono'ed at 340fps with very little loss in rof probably still going around 1,000rpm when stock it's about 1,100rpm it also sounded alot more fun my two cents |

humm that sounds an explosive mix. way to go Sadiztix !
I dont want it to be a sniper Famas though. just a cool looking LMG Famas but i think there's not much accessories to make it look actually like a LMG so i guess ill go with a Spec Forces Famas ( sniper scope , silencer , vert. foregrip or M203 after having installed G36 rails on the handguard ) but the internals you just told me about look perfect. thanks ! |

Ah, well- one more thing to my upgrade pile. As I said, 'as far as I know', I suppose it's something I didn't know. A fellow I know has a FA-MAS, he has an M100 working in it without any problems. Mabye it's just his gun, and mabye it'll self-destruct eventually. I'm not sure, and I'm sorry for making the mistake. 2 dead-useful FA-MAS guides are here: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...howtopic=53464 http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...howtopic=53567 and I've done a guide that stops about 90 percent of all body-creaks, scroll down here http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...t=21658&page=3 Cheers, sorry about that.

I'm using metal bushings, Systema Polycarb Piston, Systema Aluminum Piston Head (makes the FAMAS sound nice, but use at your own risk), PDI 140% spring. RoF barely dropped using a regular battery (8.4v 1500mah).
Mountain rails is possible but given that you're mounting them into plastic I'd be extremely careful about how much weight I mount on em. And you definitely want to reinforce the area where they're being mounted or it'll crack/snap in no time. And unless you have some 10 year old, original production FAMAS, it has an EG560HT motor (high torque). It's probably comparable to the EG700.
