police uniform fabric

One of our family friends is a law enforcement person.. worked with CSIS and rcmp, but now hes a skytrain constable guy. He has one of the heavier jackets with a semi thick material, and i was wondering if you guys knew what it was called?? or where you may be able to get a surplus jacket from rcmp and such, so i dont have to start sewing??

any help is appreciated.

Have you tried R. Nicholls? They supply police uniforms.

You do know that every piece of clothing has a tag that tells you what its made out of. If he is a 'family friend' why not ask him to read the tag?
