Need Help deciding
K, well i sold all my guns, starting new, but now I cant decide what I want. I am very much into the realism (ie metal body ect), I play alot of both outdoor and indoor, I had an M16 (liked very much, but VERY impractable indoors) and a FAMAS (plastic, too swat style) I was looking at;
1) ICS M4 - I love ar's, customizable, comes w/ the split mech box and metal body, so switching between indoor and outdoor upper cylinder and springs is a snap, also eliminating the need for a second gun The forward assist is functional, it disassembles realistically. but everyone and their dog has an ar. 2) CA G36k - Love the 36, esspecially w/ the intigrated scope/carryhandle has a metal body, can make it an XM8 (which I also love) very customizable, but more swat than military, not egsaclty what im looking for in a gun. still need a second indoor gun 3) STAR L85 - metal body, love the bull pup, love the look, can use ar mags, but iffy plastic gear box. not customizable at all. need a second gun 4) TM SIG 552 - Love the look, very customizable, again more swat than military. not the best for out door and NO metal body need a second gun Any SERIOUSE opinions and recommendations would be appreciated. |

There's no option for "The one YOU like best" but there should be. I'd vote for it. This poll will amount to nothing more than a favourite gun contest.

It sounds like you want a gun for both indoor AND outdoor, AND you don't want a full size rifle. This is a recipe for all-around disappointment.
From what you listed, only the M4 has a chance of cutting it. With an easily changed spring, and maybe a second, longer inner barrel (you can hide in a suppressor) it'll do well outdoors. There's several ICS M4 variants, I'd have to say go with the A1 RIS: full stock is the worst of both worlds, regular A1 limits your battery size... RIS at least you can use the fake AN/PEQ to hold a larger batt (they hold up to 9.6v 1700mah). And you can mount accessories and optics easily. "Everyone has one" - yeah, so what? Sometimes rare guns are rare for a good reason.

Don't underestimate the SIG due to its size. It outranges my FAMAS and comes just short of the TM M4. Very good range and accuracy for the barrel length. I play woodland only and don't feel at all disadvantaged with the SIG. Add a more powerful spring and a precision barrel and it will perform as well as any M4. You can even get a longer barrel and hide it under a silencer and still have a gun small enough for CQB. Sure it isn't full metal but it has a metal rod running the length of the body and it is very sturdy and solid, only little bit of movement is the front grip. Bonuses include two free rails, folding stock, stackable mags and cool dummy rounds, and with the money you'll save by not buying an ICS you can put in the barrel and spring and have a better performer than the ICS.

k awsome, thanks for the info on the sig, thats another good point that i would have never thought of. i think i would have chosen the sig already for a couple of the reasons you mentioned, but the huge kicker is the plastic body. my team member has a 551 and man is that cool, but its very creeky and cheap feeling, the 552 is probably better due to its size, but the body flex and creeks deter me.

Just so you know. You can buy a metal body for the sig although it is expensive. Honesly, I wouldnt let the poll shift your choice. People have different opinions and taste than you do and they may like something you dont. also, some of the people voting may have only that gun so its a biased opinion, and some might not have any gun or experience at all. Take this into consideration when looking at the poll. Drake, Harleyb and doctor death gave you some good info, make your choice carefully. I would suggest the M4 line. No, i have never had an ics m4, but you are looking for a gun for both indoor and outdoor. This gun is very upgradable, and full metal which you like. You can even purchase a CQBR barrel for CQB if you like. The M4 is the most practical for both indoor and outdoor shooting, and is also a gun that you most likely wont get board of.

Erm,. the CA 36 body is a glass fiber, not Metal. Also IIRC the Germans use the G36, so its very, very military.

I have an m4, however i voted for the Sig552. I use my m4a1 for indoor and outdoor, and got a metal body for it (the way to go on an m4). From what i heard of the sig552 its better if you want to keep the body stock. Not the neumerous problems that the m4 has, but metal body fixxes all!

As far as I've seen the most upgradable is the armalite. And this seems to be what you want. You can get anything for it and you can get it easily. A friend of mine has a sig552 and loves it but still wants an AK for outdoor use. The great thing about the armalite is the folding slither stock that you can pick up for it. This item is full metal and I have one on my S system. By no means does this make it an entirely cqb weapon but it does make it easier for rounding corners. Why hant and search when you can just pick and choose? there are so many goodies on the market for armalites.
Good luck to you. |

well, ive been leaning towards the ar but was just hesitant, i didnt want to limit myself and make sure that I wasnt looking at this close minded. (which is why i was asking for opinions) Thanks for all your input, I believe im going to get the ar, that way, what i started with my m16, i can carry on with my m4.

I love my Classic Army M15A4 Tac Carbine. The finish is black versus the ICS grey, has nicer trademarks, and unlike the ICS is proportioned properly. It also has a one-piece gearbox. The ICS two-piece may be easy to take down, but my buddy's had nothing but problems with his.

I would go with the 36 but the TM model is a little more realistic as it does have the HK markings on it. Second choice I would go with the sig, but After seeing Darklen do the internals (which probably was 6 hours to disaaemble and to reassemble), that would make it a hard thing to consider. Just my thoughts, and btw I love the famas for its look lol, I cant wait to get one lol

If your going to buy an armalite. Id go with the new CA m15a4... I myself just purchased the Cam15a4 CQB varient waiting on that to come. When i recieved my ICS m4a1 I hated the colour... its an ugly grey so i painted it krylon flat black. Since it was my first gun i was hesitant to open up the gearbox and upgrade the internals... but in the end I did it anyways and it was a great experience. The split mechbox design is amazing... now it shoots like a monster.
If it were me and I was able to start over again Id probably go with the CA m15s because of the cool black colour and trade, dont get me wrong I love the ICS but the availability of external upgrade parts are a hassle (especially the pistol grip) and the grey colours is just damn ugly. CA on the other hand as I stated above has a cool black colour and very cool trades. |
