yes... another import question LOL
I am looking to import a SECOND HAND GUN from the States. I'll drive down there and bring it to Canada with my car. Thing is, the seller does not have the original box/papers for it. I found information on the manufacturer's website and stuff. Is it enough as "proof" to bring it over to the great North?
Another question, if the gun shoots over 500 FPS , but IS BELOW 5 joules. Is it still an unrestricted firearm? My understanding is that you can have one that shoots 550 FPS, but just need to be below 5 joules... After all, if you use a 0.12g bbs, it'll shoot well above 500 lol. Last question, do CBSA have a chrono to test the gun that I will be carrying over? Or they just rely solely on the manufacturer's paper/box/online infos? I've seen many posts, but am still confused... Thanks Chen |

Don't bring in a gun yourself, you'll get trouble at the border, and no, they won't test it, and most likely will not bother to check official documentation. Best case scenario, it will be confiscated and you might get it back later, worst scenario, you'll get arrested.

They're most likely just going to refuse it.
But stop asking the internet for legal advice, ask the border agents that you're going to be dealing with. They'll have the most accurate answer! |

What I would do is email CBSA telling them that you are going to be crossing the border with a used airsoft which is "IMPORT COMPLAINT" However, I don't have the original box, What can I do? and print those as well showing the CBSA agent. Bring those, I doubt they will refuse let alone arrest you. With my experience they usually just look at the box the longest one I've had took about 5 mins to check. I came out of the car, went to the booth, showed the papers, gave my car key and explained where they can find the gun. 3 mins later, came back and said I could go. |
