Trigger response & higher FPS
Hey guys
I have a G&G m4 Raider and i would like to get a better trigger response semi shot only. And a higher FPS, currently its about 280-285fps and i want to get it to 350-360. budget is about 250$ what should i get to accomplish this? |

Basic mosfet, tune up (aoe, shim, radius the brittle g&g shell), m100 spring & 11.1 battery should do what you want in like $50 or so if you're handy

250$ budget? Good, get a mosfet, GATEE TITAN or BTC SPECTRE should do nicely. Also upgrade your spring.
for 350fps range, make sure your gears are 18:1 ish.

Basically, ignore this guy cause he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. What cetane said is generally the basic things to do (basic 3034 mosfet, 11.1V LiPo, tune-up gearbox). If you want to do a little more, get lower ratio gears (SHS 13:1s are the typical go-to) and a high torque motor (Tienlys are nice but expensive, SHS Hi-Torque and Lonex motors are good alternatives). If at some point, you decide that you want something truly high performance, hit up a good gun tech like Pestobanana or EOD Steve, and get them to work their magic with a Siegetek 10.44:1 SSG with frankentorque motor and a BTC Spectre setup, although you'll have to do this with a better base platform like a VFC. If you're not confident in your abilities or haven't yet had the chance to work on a gun, I highly suggest you take it to a tech. You can maybe even request them to let you watch them work, which could help teach you along the way. If you're adamant on doing it yourself, read lots of text guides from reputable sources, read some more good sources, and then read some more. Make sure you're familiar with the process and what you have to do. Then go do it. If your CM16 is shooting ~200FPS I suspect there's a leak somewhere. They're usually not that low out of the box. Get your tech to check your compression, or look up how to do that yourself. On a stock spring, you should be shooting 350-400, which is more than adequate.

my reasoning for 18:1 gear ratio was the motor. If the motor is not strong enough to push the spring back then, gear ratio should compensate for it.
BTC SPECTRE should be cheaper now that MK.II is out. Just an assumption on that. I agree with everyone else that if you are low on the techy part, you better take it to a gun doctor. Paying for labor is better than ending up with a gun in pieces.

Good god, I can imagine the flames coming out of them now... Maybe I should have clarified a bit more; when he can afford to get the highest performing AEG setup, he can talk to them. OP, under NO circumstances should you bug them to upgrade your G&G Raider... |

yeah blow 2/3 your budget on a mosfet... duuurrrr.
where are you located? 230 can go a long way to upgrading a raider. cylinder head and sorbo/aoe, steel tooth rack piston, o-ring nozzle, basic 3034 fet, new spring and you can run lipos on that thing all day long, and you've gained some rps by switching to lipo and upgrading the wiring by adding the mosfet. g&g piston o-rings are pretty dry and hard, they don't flex well and they often aren't sealing to the proper potential that the piston o-ring can seal. You can just replace the ring with a properly sized one and keep on trucking, probably get a ton of fps back.

If we're talking about a budget and upgrades...
Trigger response and higher FPS = high torque motor and 13:1 ratio gears (optional), metal teeth piston, double o-ring nozzle and metal cylinder head w/ sorbo or silicone pad, and a m100 spring. SHS high-torque motor $45 Spring $10 SHS Piston w/ Metal piston head $15 O-ring nozzle cylinder head $15ish? Basic Mosfet $??? $85 before the mosfet. You can dump another $30-40 for a different gear ratio but I would definitely take this before a tech to make the installation and another opinion for what you really want to upgrade. |

Surprised no one linked to This Thread Yet.
If you find the language in that link too complicated, consider having someone else do the trigger response upgrades for you. It took me at least a year of changing springs and doing routine gearbox maintenance before I felt comfortable doing more complicated "upgrades" like trigger response. |
