TM MP7 AEP Upgrades questions
Heres my parts list:
-Nine ball Piston -Nine ball Cylinder (If I can find it anywhere) -Nine Ball Dumper Cylinder Head & Dumper Piston Head -PicoSSR (Not sure what Gen) -KM or Nineball inner barrel -Custom CNC machined gear set + pinion gear (Possibly will be helical) -Custom CNC machined gearbox -Lipo mod -RC Motor (Probably will have to grind down the shaft) -Deep fire bearings I'm not going to mess around with the spring, I don't care much for FPS anyways. Now onto my questions: 1. I'm debating between the nine ball 6.03 inner barrel or the KM 6.04 inner barrel? The KM Inner barrel has a TN coating, not really sure what that is but would it affect my accuracy? 2. Is installing the PicoSSR worth it? I saw a tutorial awhile (can't find it anymore) that said it made the trigger response much better. 3. I found someone that could CNC machine me an AEP gearbox and a full steel gear set + the pinion gear. Apparently TM made the gear that that pulls back the piston out of a softer metal so it wouldn't shred the stock piston. Since I'm going to be using the much stronger nine ball piston, would it be worth replacing the stock gears? Keep in mind I'm not going to increase the spring strength or anything, just the rate of fire. 4. What RC motor should I use? Apparently the Frenzy 370 RC motor was a good replacement for the stock motor but it's out of stock/discontinued everywhere. Thanks guys |

Nineball is laylax/prometheus. Really no competition on that one.
And helical gears are good for reducing noise by a little bit but are really pointless in airsoft guns. Doesnt SHS or someone make a gear set for the MP7? |

I initially thought so myself but unfortunately the SHS gears doesn't actually fit in the MP7s, one extra/less tooth.

PicoSSR install is definitely worth it. Much improved trigger response w/ a 7.4v LiPo. It's a bit complicated though. You will have to disassemble the original trigger mechanism a fair bit. Would definitely recommend mapping out your connections on paper first before soldering. The space inside is very snug though - when I had one a long time ago I used micro deans plugs and was able to fit a 950mah battery in there. If you don't feel like that hassle, I HIGHLY recommend using regular deans and just wiring to an external PEQ (which I ended up doing in the end)

I use to own a TM AEP.... if your going to spend a ton of money upgrading that and you have a friend who can machine you parts. look into making that part that pushes the nozzle I forget what its called but on mine it was flimsy as hell

Its called the tappet plate.
From my experience with Glock 18 AEPs, the Marui and Cyma pistons are a lot more durable than the Nine ball hard pistons. Over the years playing with AEPs, I had only one piston break, and it was the Nine ball. It might have been bad luck, as its only one data point, but seeing how durable the TM pistons are, I would not recommend that upgrade. Also, you might want to look at the PDI piston head and cylinder, they are almost always in stock and cheaper: http://www.x-fire.org/etop/tm_aep.html If you order from PDI, you might as well get your inner barrel there. I have the stainless 6.05 in one of my G18c and its amazing. Prices are similar, but again, they are easier to obtain. I also have a MP7 length PDI Raven inner barrel that I used for a while in a G18c and it worked surprisingly well for such a cheap barrel.

Youll want to stock to a 6.01 or 6.03 due to the tiny air volume

Actual nomenclature for titanium nitride is "TiN", could be nitride, but its not really a friction coating, its a heat resistant hard coating. Sometimes used to inhibit corrosion.
If its proper CVD or PVD deposition, then you'll never wear it off with BBs or aggressive cleaning. If its teflon, it makes more sense. But the BB never touches the barrel wall anyway so reducing friction between Bb and barrel is bullshit. But you do want a low friction coating to reduce air turbulence. Anyway, KM is no competition compared to nineball/pdi/prometheus |
