King arms M4A1 Stuck Fake Bolt - Solved!
it's me again..damn nothing is ever easy eh?
I got a used KA metal m4 yesterday that has some problems where single fire won't work and auto fire does work. Ok, maybe I can open the gear box and look at it. Which should be easy because we have done it multiple times on a G&G M4 where it had the same problem. What I didn't realize is that the KA M4 is difficult to take apart. (I'm trying to do more AEG work to teach myself to fix AEGs, so I buy cheap sorta broken airsoft guns) It doesn't stop there. I watched a video on youtube how to take it apart. Also I saw some posts here that mentioned this. However, in the video, it's said that you have to let the fake bolt to be fully closed first and then pull the cocking handle then take it apart. However the fake bolt on the M4 is stuck open, the bolt release is not working. I looked into the mag well, and the bolt release is not really connected to anything. But I'm not sure how to fix this problem. He did mention they took it apart before, so I'm guessing they didn't put it back properly. Is there any way to take it apart without playing with the fake bolt? or how to reattach the bolt release so I can take it apart? It's not a EBB gun, so why did they even add that fake bolt...If they can be left out, i'd probably never put the fake bolt back in lol... Thanks for any info.. PS: I read on another forum to knock out 2 body pins, not 1. Is that true with KA m4? I think real M4 is like that, but for airsoft I have always only used the frontal pin that's close to the barrel. SLOVED Took me long enough, lurkingknight was right, but mine just woulnd't come off for some reason. However, I think I pulled it a little differently and it came off..

I have a King Arms M4A1. You know out both body pins to remove the upper from the lower. Knock the pins out (mine are retention ones so they stay on the receiver) then slide the upper forward while pulling back on the charging handle. There is a tiny nub at the top of the mech box that catches otherwise.
As for releasing the fake bolt the bolt release basically rests on a spring load latch on the oposite side of the receiver. You will need to have the mag release installed, then you can knock a pin holding the bolt release out. Then you position the leaver on the latch, it took me a couple tries. Hold it in place, make sure the latch is releasing properly and pin it. I can take some pictures for you tonight as I need to take my M4 apart anyways. |

same as every other v2 m4..
take the upper off with the front body pin.. if your bolt cover is stuck and the pingpong paddle won't let it return and twisting the upper on the lower a bit won't let it go, it will come free when you take the upper off. It's likely bent or slightly out of the track that the cover travels in. there's a nub on top of the gearbox that will bump into the charging handle, you should be able to rotate the upper and pull the charging handle a bit to clear the nub. Buffer tube screw comes out motor plate, motor, grip screws come out, grip comes off rear receiver pin comes out... thin pin infront of the trigger comes out not sure which way to punch it out, it's knurled on one side so if it comes out most of the way and the tip won't come out you punched it the wrong way. keep track of what way it came out, goes back in the same way unless you want to make it so loose it comes out down the road by itself. mag release out ping pong paddle pin out, paddle out. selector in semi, gearbox should slide right out the top of the lower.

I will try it out when I get home from work..
I think i will try removing both pins..because naminator's sounds pretty much like mine..the pins wont drop out and such. I removed that one pin before like lurkingknight mentioned, but it just won't drop out. It clicks out but then it's stuck..
