Ghk opinions

Hi guys been out of airsoft for quite some time now and am looking for my first gun in years.

I'm really interested in ghks gims or ak74u. Does anyone have any comments on these?

Looking to hopefully play at toronto airsoft or ttac how are these indoors power wise?

As a side note I'm also looking at trying to find a vector or a we pdw ???

Thank all in advance

GHK makes the best AK GBB out there, period.

74U is a nice piece, and shoots under 380 FPS OOTB, GIMS has a longer inner, so I'd suspect it shoots more then 380.

Comes down to what you want, if you're doing CQB, I would go 74U or 105.

Siege Airsoft is 380 FPS, TTAC is 350 FPS, you'll need to get a 1J nozzle regardless if you plan on playing at TTAC.

Vector mags are hella expensive, so I would pass on it completely, but that's up to you. $80 USED to 100+tax brand new each.

WE PDW'S don't really exist much, people just go straight M4 CQBR. Most WE PDW you find used on the classifieds are well used or painted.

Thanks for the reply.

So after phoning around this afternoon my choices are between

Ghk ak74u

Or

We pdw open bolt short barrel

How do these two choices compare?

GHK 74UN hands down,

WE PDW will break in time, and you'll end up spending more $ on ra-tech internals.

GHK parts are cheap and by the dozen, and most of their parts are made out of steel already, so no worries breaking.

GHK mags also have great cold weather performance, so winter time comes around you'll be fine with cool down issues, unlike WE OB mags.

GHK's are beautiful works of art and shall forever stay in my collection.

That said, between the GIMS and 74U, asides from the FPS differences Biorage mentioned, it really depends on what you'd want to do w/ it in the future. They're both AK's (real steel calibre differences aside) but they're different enough that you'll run into some issues occasionally if you want to put on certain parts on them.

That said, the biggest difference between the two imo, is the GIMS has a fixed stock rear trunnion, while the 74U has a side folder trunnion.

If you want to run Zenitco style stuff like their side folding stock, you'll need something with the side folder rear trunnion. If you want to run the new Magpul stuff or anything fixed, you'll need something with a fixed stock trunnion. That's the biggest difference between the two in my books.

Of course, if you plan to leave it stock, just pick the one you like more.
Had all that typed up before I saw the new posts but might as well leave that there if anyone has a similar question I guess.

That said, if you decide to grab the 74U over the PDW, pick up a metal hop up chamber or a bunch of spare plastic hop up chambers. You're bound to cause a double feed at some point and crack a hop up chamber. Pretty much the only issue I ever run into on my GHK's.

Yep plan on keeping them stock ! I have tons of real steel furniture for these, Bakelite pistol grips, romanian vertical wood grips aswell as the Russian furniture. So it's gonna come down to what one I like most.

As for internals what's the most common weak spot other than the hop up?

Hm... after the hop up chamber it might be nozzle wing/arms.

Apparently they can break, though I've never been able to manage it. The newest nozzles have reinforced arms/wings so I wouldn't worry about it if you get one of those. If not, they're relatively cheap to replace.

Continuing after that, I guess it might be some of the trigger group components like the hammer, sear, etc. I've only heard of them breaking, never managed it myself but I doubt its common enough to worry about. There's steel replacement parts for them if it ever happens anyways and they're relatively cheap as well.

Wouldn't worry about any of those areas though, while they're the most common areas to look into after the hop up chamber, those issues aren't common enough to worry about.

I have the akm. Stock up on hop rubbers and chambers. Weakest internal on my experience is the auto sear. Broke after about 2000.

WE PDW > GHK PDW.

Reason why it was replaced with the G5, it wasn't one of their strongest product. Beta can elborate on the GHK PDW, but anyways, the topic is.. ghk ak :P

Disagree! GHK PDW is always> WE PDW

WE one is garbage and break in a short time, ghk pdw is ghk first best selling gbb rifle and well known to be reliable, I still keep this gun in my collection and it run well

AK I have no complain at all lol

If they are as great as the GHK M4 ........you will have the only platform you will ever use.
Our whole team dumped our electric stuff for the GHK M4. The quality is unsurpassed in my opinion. When I was at capital airsoft , hundreds of people finger F----D my M4 without ever having an issue.

As was mentioned earlier.......the parts are extremely affordable. I have lots of parts for the just in case moment.

James at B2 airsoft has some in stock.

If you get a GHK, you won't regret it.

Enjoy !
