USPc + G&G Metal Slide & Barrel...Help
So I took the plunge and replaced my slide, outter barrel, and recoil spring.
Had a few minor battles with the sights and innards but no big deal there. Did the Mag mod, as per the instructions..piece of cake. Cleaned up the slide rail slots abit...slides smooth for the most part. The problem I am having is that the Slide sticks ALL the way back (goes back a couple or three mm's past the slide release ) and needs to be given a lil tap to spring forward. I tried it with the plastic outter barrel and it does not happen so I'm guessing the prob is with the interface between the barrel and the slide. Seems the outter barrel is getting wedged into the front of the slide. Having compared the two outter barrels I can see no obvious differences in the geometry and so am at a bit of a loss as to what to do about it. Anyone have any experience with this or any ideas on how to proceed? Thanks for your time, J

I just installed a metal slide on my hicapa. It could be that your new slide is just not "broken in" yet. When I first got my slide on it was really tight and did the same thing as your explaining (after working it for a wile). To solve this I simply continued to work it in. I just racked the slide over and over and over again, making sure the slide went all the way back and all the way forward. After doing this for a wile (long wile) shes shooting great. I also made sure the slide was very well lubed during the break in and cleaned the gun after to get rid of the metal dust and excess lube.
If its not simply a problem of not being broken in an easy way to check if its binding on the outer barrel is to simply inspect the outer barrel for odvious signs of wear. If its holding the slide back its going to be leaving a mark. Hope that helped |

Thanks Oz
I'll give that a shot. I'll let you know how it went when next I see you at the field. J
