The ASC forum review!
I've been lurking about on a few airsoft fb pages and one huge issue that keeps coming up constantly is the lack of available, and spread of, information.
I find myself arguing with people on a weekly basis about how barrels affect and (more importantly) DON'T affect range and accuracy, how range is only affect by fps when it's congruent to BB weight, and many other very important discoveries we've made years ago that these communities still don't know about. So I got to thinking, ASC sure has come a long way in 10 years. Not just in technical expertise, but also in how we treat new players. We pretty much used to flame most new people asking simple questions. And the typical answer for any simple question was "use the search function" for quite a while. I've noticed we either have a lot less repetitive questions here, or they get plugged with a sticky thread of the info they need right away. So just how well informed are the new people? How good of a job are we doing of helping the new players? |

I tought ASC people were rude, trollish and arrogant until I subscribed to airsoft facebook groups... now ASC just sounds as polite and friendly as a bunch of grandmas at a tea party...

Your poll is lacking my favorite (i.e., the most important) choice:
[X] I MISS THE DAYS NOOBS WHERE PUMMELED INTO THE GROUND BY THE RAGING FURY OF A THOUSAND FIERY SLEDGEHAMMERS yeah, I guess we've mellowed a bit.

I think some of the stickies need updating, but other than that this forum is a gold mine of useful info.

Yeah after looking through a few of them, they have some really OLD info, but not necessarily useless.
IE the TM vs CA thread, from a time when the only real two options were CA and TM. |

there are some "Out There" FB groups
I was added to one and upon reviewing their SOP and rules told them to expect a visit from the OPP and was told to Fuck Off and I had no business being in Airsoft..... needless to say I left the group As far as ASC is concerned,.... yes it can be harsh. But so is real life, so big boy pants are required

butthurt for not having a user title

Things are way better than they used to be, still lots of room for improvement to stay essential and relevant on all fronts.
The cleaning/ editing/ amalgamating/ culling/ preening of stickies is a monumental and utterly necessary task, and I pity the foo who take it on. I volunteer for at least a small portion of it, because I'm here every day anyway, have a fair amount of down time this winter, and need to use my editing or I lose my editing. |

I'd say that most Facebook airsoft groups are friendlier, maybe its having your name and face attached to everything you say.
There is a great wealth of knowledge here, and from what I've seen most of the more serious games seem to at least be mentioned here if not run primarily from here. This site is a great resource for anyone looking to play airsoft rather seriously. |

No doubt, but from what I recall of forums, (haven't used them in a long time) the old guard is largely unassailable. More a criticism of forums in general, than a dig at asc specifically.

I find the opposite, you tend to run into more complete dicks on fb.
However, they tend to get banned quickly. On ASC, when someone's a huge doucher, it's typically because they've been around so long nobody wants to ban them lol |
