[Edit: VFC VR16 Review Request] Carbine Recommendation Please
Hello all.
So I'm still in a quandary as to what AEG I should get. I've narrowed it down to 3, and I would really appreciate any and all opinions and comments on them. -G&P M4 Ball Rifle (Long Version) -VFC VR16 Tactical Elite2 -ARES TAR-21 Having browsed the forum, there is a dedicated thread to the TAR specifying necessary replacements/upgrades to keep the rifle running smoothly, but I could not find anything here on the G&P or the VFC. Does anybody have any information regarding necessary upgrades or recommend anything to be done with these particular rifles? My only experience is with JG, so this will be the first high-end rifle, and I greatly thank those who respond. Thanks much. [Edit: Mods, please feel free to move this to the Airsoft Guns Discussion board, as I'm not quite sure this belongs here, but if you feel I can get adequate responses and it's not worth the work, just leave it. Thanks.] Last edited by ShadowWraith128; November 22nd, 2014 at 16:43.. Reason: Edit1: Unsure of Proper Location, Edit2: Slight topic change |

Out of the 3, VFC is the highest end. A lot of experienced techs will build their own guns out of VFCs for a number of reasons.
G&Ps are good guns, but they have some downsides. They pretty much NEED to be shimmed straight out of the box or they could suffer catastrophic failure prematurely. Both guns make for fine upgrade platforms. The TAR is.... special. Would not advise getting unless you already have a good, reliable daily driver primary rifle.

Thanks for the reply Spike.
I was already leaning towards the VFC, simply cause it looks sexier then the G&P. :P It kinda sucks that ARES didn't do a great job with the TAR and made it so complex to upgrade, otherwise I'd love a TAR. Does anybody have an experience they would be willing to share about the VFC? Thanks. |

I have only heard good things about VFC, but too expensive for me..even G&P is pretty expensive for me. If you like to keep with the same gun..get VFC, if you like to switch around all the time like me, selling, playing, reselling, then you might want to consider a cheaper...
the tar...i only heard don't get it...

i have a vfc mk18 mod 1 and it is by far my favourite ar15 style rifle that i have used. out of the box it shoots straight and thus far have had no issues with it.

VFCs are great. I've loved all of mine. Solid shooters out of the box BUT, if you're going to extensively upgrade your AEG it may not be worth the higher price (you can upgrade cheaper guns for the same results).
If prices are close, I'd go VFC no question. |

Not true. Other platforms take more effort to upgrade and you will end up with a pretty good gearbox in a mediocre body. VFC is cheaper to upgrade as many of the stock components are good enough. My opinion of VFC can clearly be seen in my sig, and I don't even have all of my VFCs listed.
