Clearsoft

I see this term a fair bit on this board, seems to be a pejorative.

Is it because clear guns are usually of poor quality, because they take away from your own experience and enjoyment, or some other reason?

You know how you buy clothing from Wallyworld or Target, what's the difference between that and going to MEC, Coast Mountain, Patagonia, ArcTeryx, etc.

tl;dr They're usually poor quality CT shit. Fine for some people but not so much for others. "Cansoft" on the other hand actually is good quality shit (if the body doesn't break), and I think it's mostly to do with the material it needs to be made of to get the smoked colour.

If you want an airsoft gun because they look cool, you don't want clearsoft. If you want an airsoft gun because it's a replica of a real firearm, you don't want clearsoft. If you want an airsoft gun because you want a good, functional and effective shooter you can game with, you don't want clearsoft.

What are you guys all complaining about. Real steel is going plastic these days so airsoft is ahead of the game. LOL. Cansoft is the lowest grade you should get if you're tight on cash. It's just standard parts in a plastic shell. Clearsoft (shitsoft) on the other hand is plastic internals in a plastic shell. Total shit.

Haha, I think that's the worst "tl;dr" usage I've seen to date. The "summary" portion is way longer than the rest of the explanation.

Good on you, sir!

In all honesty, clearsoft can be a lot of fun, it's just not this website is here to discuss. I would class it somewhere between realistic looking bb/pellet guns and elastic or nerf guns.

Fun is to be had, but this forum/site is generally more interested in the LARPing, paintball-esque or training dimensions presented by realistic portrayals of real firearms, rather than all forms of 6mm plastic dispensing. The term "clearsoft" is to distinguish that product mentality from "airsoft", which while very diverse in its scope, refers to a more invested endeavor.

As such, you're not likely to find much place to discuss Crossman's most recent releases.

target shooting, get clearsoft guns: makes you focus on your aim so hard that when you pick up an actual airsoft gun they come out as straight as you can possibly imagine! XD

But seriously, main reason clearsoft guns are so headed on are that they are 25% the cost, 5% quality and can break (quite basically) after maybe 4 or 5 skirmishes. But if you invest in an actual airsoft gun for $300, it will run you a much longer time than 10x that.

2 major factors of guns breaking: 1) plastic gears in gearbox. This one's a no-brainer why it's a bad idea. 2) the bodies are made of cheap plastic and break very quickly if not babied.

Clearsoft guns usually use completely proprietary parts, with non-adjustable hopup. Can't be fixed, or even calibrated to shoot straight.

Hey, quit hating on clearsoft guns!

Early stages of my clearsoft project:

But no in all serious, clearsoft guns are usually pretty terribad. Sometimes decent ish companies made them, but they watered everything down to be uber shit. Unfortunately the one I got uses a two piece hop up, good bye FPS consistency and accuracy.
