First aid kit ideas?
Hello everyone,
Did a little forum search and nothing popped up so here is my question(s). I want to start carrying a first aid kit on the field, will probably consist of gauze, tensor bandages, first aid tape, scissors, tweezers... just basic stuff to do field dressings and compression before better help arrives. When I have my backpack on I have no problem carrying that stuff in a waterproof bag but I need some ideas for mounting it on my Condor Hydro Harness. Here is a picture of the harness... ![]() I'd like something so I can reach around and access the kit without needing to remove the whole chest rig. Does anyone even design a tear-away kit so I could pull it right off the PALS? Anyone with experience in this it would help me out a lot, thanks! |

There is a condor tear-away pouch that would fit there nicely. Hero carries them

band-aids,rubber gloves, Tylenol, second skin. not to many people have the need for a lot of extras on a day scrim game or short milsim.

I would add sterile saline to your list in case you need to clean out a nasty gash or something. My sister-in-law is a nurse so I get sterile saline syringes from time to time. They work great!

+1 on any sort of tear-away FAK, they are the most handy. There are some big ones too.

The condor tear away pouch is very big. Our team had one "issued" (on our own funds). We ended up ditching it or using it for something else, but not on our 2nd line.
Mine got transformed into a demo-kit. But to answer your question, you can pretty much attach it any side, but it's best if it's either top down or top up. On the side, the safety buckle that hold it won't do it's job and it will rip away on it's own. Being big, I'd wear it on my side, near my armpit, if I had no choice. In my med kit, I have basic stuff: Sterile gauzes combat sterile bandages triangle bandages bandaids nitrile gloves medical tape Sisors Electrolites tablets Quickclot (Just because I can) A very small light. 1 Tourniquet I just miss the sterile saline. I ran out of it.

An ITS Tallboy (can mount vertically or horizontally) or a HSGI bleeder pouch seems to fit your bill.
http://www.itstactical.com/store/med...lboy-multicam/ http://www.highspeedgear.com/hsgi/bl...ch-12BP00.html Both can be rigged in a way to have the medical contents pulled out via a pull tab.

I think I'm going to stick it in my admin pouch at the front of my rig... I got nothing in it so might as well use it. Hopefully I can make it nice and flat lol.

You may also want to consider the CTOMS.ca SlimLine combat first aid kit. It's about 4 inches wide and 7 inches long 3-4 inches deep takes up no more space than a double stack mag pouch and mounts however you want just specify when ordering. Plus you can order a lot of other basic first aid supplies individually wrapped for your aid kits at the same time. Also helps that it's a Canadian company so no duty/customs to deal with.

I + the CTOMS gear. They specialize in trauma and rescue shizzle. Very well designed and great quality. Again, Canadian company.
