WE GBBR nozzle failure, bolt stuck back.
WE GBBR M4
Nozzle spring seems to have failed and is now stuck in back of bolt. This causes the bolt to not be able to return full fore-ward which means 1/10th of it is stuck in the buffer tube meaning the receiver cannot be broken in half to remove the bolt. Thoughts? Puzzling problem.

Open or closed bolt ?
Did you change your stock recently ? If so, did you put in the rubber shim inside the buffer tube originaly ?

1) if the bolt just isn't closing completely you can use the forward assist to try and move it forward manually;
2) otherwise just loosen the castle nut and unscrew the buffer tube, you'll be able to pull the bolt carrier assembly out the back of the receiver.

There is a little pin and spring at the front end underneath the buffer tube to stop the buffer. That pin could be off position a bit and making the bolt got struck.

Thanks for the input guys, appreciate your help.
Here is some more info. - Open bolt. - Stock was not changed, all stock except for hop rubber and npas. - Forward assist is unable to push bolt forward, nozzle will not return all the way back into the bolt stopping the bolt from moving forward all the way (causing the protrusion) - Had the buffer tube off and tried to remove the bolt through the rear. while I can get the bolt to move back and fourth its not possible to pull all the way though the rear due to the roll pin part of the bolt. (See picture) - Pin underneath the bolt is working fine, not stopping the bolt in any way. I have also tried pulling the bolt as far out as I can (to the slim part) and then separate the receiver hoping the extra space would give me some wiggle room. Did not work.

With the stock tube off and no tension on the bolt carrier, you should be able to pop out the front and rear receiver pins and pull the upper off (carefully)

My guess is that the little pin holding the two pieces of your nozzle together has come out and possibly bent, which is forcing it into place in mid-travel. The only way you'll get that bolt out of the receiver is to force the bolt into battery\. Doing this can damage your stock bolt, but it's the only way to stop your GBBR from becoming a very big paperweight.

take off the front end, that way the bolt can sit fully forward and then you can do a full takedown of the gun, PM me if you need futher help, it is the ONLY way to safely disassemble the gun.

Took of the front end which allowed the bolt forward enough to split the receivers, freeing the bolt from its prison. Thanks guys!
Here was the root of the problem: Spring snapped and coiled up at the back of the bolt causing the backup, pin slightly bent. Everything else looks ok. Is this a common problem?

Is it copper? Replacing the steel spring and pin? First time I saw it for internal parts!

this happened to me too (on my 416) only failiure so far after 2 seasons. I had to remove the buffer to get it out as well. it was a pain lol. Also bought the whole nozzle set for the replacement spring lol

I can't see via Tapatalk if you're AV'd, but if so, I'd suggest browsing the parts classifieds here for what you want. Hasn't failed me yet.

Well, have fun finding a new spring and replacing it- you gotta take out the c clip at the back of the bolt to get the parts out. Be careful when taking out the spring pin- they're often one-way. |
