Moving back to Canada

Hi Guys!

I am a Canadian citizen currently living in Poland since my birth. In a year I will be moving back and have two airsoft-related questions.

1. I currently have a heavily modified VFC AKS-74 and a TM Kimber Warrior. Will I be allowed to travel back to Canada with these replicas? Will I need to register these "guns" or obtain any permits?

I am wondering because I don't want to pump cash into replicas which I'll have to sell.

2. What kinds of Air Soft weapons are allowed in Canada?

I believe I saw it in another thread, you'll need to claim that they are in your luggage and fill out the proper forms. I'm sure a more experienced member can confirm or correct me if I'm wrong

Best off contacting Border services directly and ask. We've got a lot available now. The rule is something like between 366 and 500fps with .2g, (It's posted numerous times in different forum threads). Full metal guns are readily available. Might be easier to sell what you have and buy or build new when you get here...

Common concensus here is to sell them off and buy again here. Although the the rules for bringing guns are pretty set out, there's still a bit of headache in terms of bringing guns here (things like proof they are over 366fps and such)

There's a large variety of Airsoft available in Canada, pretty much anything that can be made over 366fps has made it in, as well as some that aren't. I'm quite sure you'd be able to find your AK and TM here again if you sold your ones there and came here

OK, thanks for all the advice. I just have one more question: Why is there a lower limit (366FPS) for the guns velocity? That would pretty much mean that all Green-Gas weapons are banned?

366fps is just for it crossing the border, as soon as its in canada it doesnt matter what fps its shooting

Okay there are a lot of people flapping thier gums when they don't have a clue; here is the info you need;

For import, an airsoft gun must shoot 366-500fps w/ 0.2g BB. You will need to declare them, but before you do anything check out the manufacturer's website that is what CBSA goes off of. Your TM pistol will not make it in, best to sell it there and use the money to buy a new one here.

Your rifle won't make it in either, sell it and buy new here.

For your reference, here are the classifications that an airsoft rifle can fall into upon importation;

0-365fps : Replica firearm, prohibited import/sale/ownership;
366-499fps : Uncontrolled firearm, legal import/sale(+18)/ownership; and
500+fps (and 5.7joules) : Controlled firearm, legal import/sale/ownership but need a PAL.

It's a crappy system, but it's better than what we had five years ago when all airsoft ANYTHING were "replicas".

Your typical full auto AEG here in Canada is shooting 380-420fps fyi.

Why wouldn't the VFC make it in? Stock VFC's I've seen shot around 380 FPS for the US version and 430 for the Asia version.

certain countries have fps restrictions as well.
I am not familiar with Polands.

But in the UK I think its something like max fps at 350 or something.
Germany is semi auto only and a fps cap as well.

That is all well and good, but in the absence of official factory paperwork from VFC, CBSA is going to look at the manufacturer website, and that model is listed @ 100mps.

That being said, you can petition the CSBA for them to test the FPS
more paperwork more headache more time wasted.

in the end if your gun isn't shooting 366fps.
sell it and buy new

We've got lots of green gas/propane guns here. I own 3 the lowest shoots at 420fps highest "ghetto upgraded" at 620.(down to about 570 after much use).
