WE AK74 GBBR fires full auto only

Simply: selector on full auto = fires full auto (as one would expect).
Selector on semi = still fires full auto.

The unit has seen about 3000-4000 rounds.

Any other details needed?

willing to perform services in a dark alley that may or may not leave you satisfied for a title. GFE = 1, looks = 2, BBFS for an extra $50.

It sounds like the little claw is not catching the hammer to make it semi, with the mag out and the top cover open cycle the action and see how the selector engages the hammer and trigger sears. I am guestimating its a loose grub screw on the selector switch.

does it fire while on safe?

Your trigger box/assembly might have been assembled/reassembled incorrectly if this is a used gun you purchased. If this is the case, go on YouTube, and find an instructional for disassembly and reassembly of the trigger box and its components. The sear might not be installed properly.

If this is an issue that has just started, then your sear likely is damaged in some way, or it has become loosened through use. Again, I would find a video that shows the sear in detail and compare to your sear for any malformations/dysfunctions. A simple bend too far in one direction or loose wobble can cause major issues in trigger operation.
