Kar 98 scope placement.
I was just wondeirng why sooo many people put the scopes soo far forward on the airsoft Kar 98's, is there a reason why ? and is it possible to put a scope on it like a regular sniper rifle ?

i think there's a mount available for putting a normal scope near the back. the kar98 has a scope rail on the side way far up the gun that the issued scope was clipped on to.

Just to confirm what manchovie stated, the old scope mount did indeed place the scope ver far ahead (right above the rear iron sights). I think the original reason for this was that the Mauser used stripper clips so the scope had to be mounted so it wouldn't get in the way. Mind you, they also mounted the scopes farther back but in order to do this you may have to drill and tap the reciever to accept a scope base but that requires a bit more skill to do. Below are pics of the two ways a scope was mounted during WWII.
