Hi everyone! I'm new to the game and looking to get started! I reside in Toronto and need help on a good start up plan to put into action for the springtime of 2014. I was wondering if you guys could take the time to point out where to get good equipment and a group I could join for the springtime..Can't wait!

Fortunately for you, you live in Toronto and Brian has just announced TTAC 14 on March 15.

There should be an answer to all your questions there.
You can might be able to get AV'd there as well but maybe not..ask the man who runs the show

we can't point you to where to buy the guns (you have to get age verified, and blah blah blah).

Equipment and guns are very subjective. Both in look and feel. An M14 with a CIRAS and a multicam uniform is going to look and feel much different than an MP5 with a chest rig and a black uniform. Price also makes a big difference.

It's always recommended that you head out to some games before hand, or do some research as to what you want. Once you know what you want (eg "I want to play light and tight - so I'll go with an MP5 and a chest rig"), then do some research into what brands make quality MP5s, and look/ask around for what to look for in a chest rig.

Since you're in the Toronto area, there's a couple good indoor areas that you can play at in the winter, to get a feel for what you like, and see what others are using.

TTAC3 hosts games most Friday nights, and I try to attend as often as I can. If you can make it out to one of those, I'd be happy to lend you some different guns and gear, so you can see what you like the feel of.

The other place is Ultimate Airsoft, and they're open Wednesday to Sunday. They have rental M4s and face masks there, so you can show up and play. If you go on a weekend, there's lots of people there, so you can check out what other people are running, and talk to them about their gear.

thanks! I was looking for a standard assault rifle (m4 perhaps) websites to buy from? companies that make the best product..as well, gas or electric?
I appreciate the help with this..as it does seem to be a bit of an investment..but wow does it look like fun!
aswell, is there outdoor environments to check out in the gta??

M4s are the most popular rifles, so there's a lot to choose from, with a huge price range.
What's your price range for a rifle? That'll also effect which brands you can afford, haha.
The "go-to" starter M4 seems to be the King Arms M4. I believe it's around $300.
If you're in Toronto, there's plenty of walk-in stores that you can visit.

After you've got a rifle, you may want to set aside another $100 for some accessories, like a sling, a foregrip, and an optic.
You'll also need a good battery, and a good battery charger, which should run you less than $100.
If you go AEG (electric), then you can get magazines for pretty cheap. A box of plastic KA magazines can be had for something like $40.

You'll also want to put aside another $150-$200 for face protection, vest, boots, and maybe a uniform.

Note that once you buy a gun, you may need to downgrade the spring, if it's shooting the BB too fast. Most outdoor fields limit you to 400 feet per second, and indoor is generally 350 FPS.

As far as gas vs electric - most would recommend that you start off with an electric.
I find that gas is a lot simpler than electric, and if you've got the money, pick up something like a KJW M4, which is pretty much ready to go out of the box, with the exception of a velocity reducer. But there are a lot of draw backs to using gas over electric, and you're probably better off with an AEG, and playing a few games, until you can get a feel for the differences.

For outdoor environments, there aren't too many in the GTA. As you step outside the GTA (an hour or more outside Toronto), there's several fields that people will organize games on.
