Spray painting mags

Can anyone tell me how to spray paint mags properly?

I bought a few midcaps from my friend but they are tan colored and I want to them to black.

Will I ruin the mag or create problems (misfeeding/jamming) by spray painting it?

What if I spray paint everything except the top?

What type/brand of spray paint do I use for plastic mags?

That will do it.

If there are any other access ports to the internals cover them up too. Like on MAG brand mags, there is a cover to take the spring out on the bottom of the mag.

Krylon will probably work best.

I don't like spray painting anything that goes into the magwell, I find that it can bind if you have tight mags, or get gummy.

Also, painting mag in general, something I have stopped doing over the last couple years: Dropping a camouflaged magazine sucks.

I know it's a bit off topic but, I HAD a Zipo that was given to me as a gift, it was Woodland Camoflage. Dropped it right by my foot, it was never found, lol.

Scuff your mags with a green scrubbie (helps the paint stick), then wash and dry. Tape anything that shouldn't be painted with good painters tape. If possible, use krylon paint and apply 2 thin coats. Then apply some clear coat (use sparingly). Allow ample time between coats and after your done for everything to cure properly. Jam your mag into the mag well 3 or four times and bob's your uncle.

Firstly try to trade them on the classifieds. Lots of people would likely want tan magazines. A new box of King Arms mags (box of 5) is usually only $50 - $60 or so as well.

For painting mags, do not paint the part in the mag well, just in case. At the very least your paint won't last as long on that part. Use Krylon camp paint available at Canadian Tire, and gently scuff your magazines first. Do not get any paint near the feed lips/BB port. Do at least three even coats.

Consider grabbing more tan furniture for your gun to match, it'll break up the black, and help to hide your gun.
