Custom Battery Needed?
hi i have a stock tm aug right now and i absoluty love it but ima fallin short of the target most of the time and my friends purposly put there aegs on like 400 fps to try each other and i have a 285 fps so i was thinking about getting a pdi 150% or systema m120 spring with systema metal bushings to get me up there with my so-called buds -__________- and i need to knwo what battery would be best i was trying to get a 9.6v 1900 mAH batt. but no one seems to have anything above 1400 mAH for an aug so do i need a custom battery? plz help

You just need the PDI150 (avoid the Systema M120), and metal bushings, and practice, and knowing how to adjust your hopup properly according to the BB weight you use.

Before anyone yells/flames you, You might wanna reduce that size of that picture there, its pretty MASSIVE. :wink:
Anywho, You can get any retailer or person famailiar with Aug's to make you a battery. Just tell them the voltage (8.4 or 9.6) & how much mah (600,1000,1500,ect) you want and you need it to fit in the Aug, they'll help you out, and if they can't they'll probaly direct you to where you wanna go. I hear people tend to like using 9.6v 1500mah "Aug" type batteries and they run very well. Hope that helps. :wink: BTW, Welcome to ASC.

I was browsing that site above and I came to the following question, what size are the cells we typically use for airsoft? On the site, they have 1/3A, 2/3A, 4/5A, A, so I'm assuming these are amp ratings. So what voltage do these cells run at; 1.2? Or, do the cells have an overall rating of 1/3 of an amp? Meaning, if I wanted to make a 2 amp battery, I would need 6 cells? This does not make sense to me because a 6-cell pack will only be 7.2 volts. What size cell should I use to make a battery pack of 9.6 volts?
In my mind, I would need to use 8, 1.2v cells of the correct mah rating. Cheers, Brent

the cells are all 1.2v each. the milliamp capacity assigned for each cell is what the mah capacity of the battery will be. to get the desired voltage, you connect the cells in series, so for 8.4v you connect 7 x 1.2v in series = 8.4v. for 9.6v it's 8 cells, for 10.8 it's 9, etc. the current capacity/cell in series = complete battery current capacity, but voltage is additive. in a parallel arrangement (not recommended unless you really are an expert in electronics) the voltage /cell = complete battery voltage while current capacity is additive. as far as size goes, cell size is an indicator of current capacity, but the voltage will be 1.2v/cell for the batteries we use.

As for sizes, "large" batteries use Sub-C or SC cells, "mini" batteries use 2/3A cells. Custom batteries, such as butterfly/nunchuck, as well as AUG, P90 J-batteries, and some G36 batteries use A cells.
