Cost Effective German Kit

I know this may seem like a pipe dream, but is it at all possible to have a Cost Effective German kit?

I've seen repo kits (full kit with field gear and what not) starting at 1000$...That is insanley outside my price range.

I was looking for something along the lines of 21st Panzer, or a Russian Unit.

I'm thinking I might be able to pull something off if I use Flek, but I'd prefer a more period correct piece.

Hell I'd be satisfied with the sterotypical Gray uniform.

If anyone can give me any hints in any direction that would be awesome.

It would definately be easier to go with a post war kit, If you want your gear to last that is. If not, there are places on the internet which sell kits for movies, made out of cheap cotton, rubber, etc but they are only designed for a few wears.

If you are lookin' for a World War 2 Uniform, there is very little options for "cheap" gear as it looks the part. Buyin' used is hard too as Ebay usually has sellers marking reproductions as "Originals" an' thus, get more money for them.

A cool option though, if you are lookin' for that original look, is go with a Russian Kit, they are insanely cheap when compared with German kits...their helmets can retail for 37 US while the German ones can set you back 200+ US.

Well, I'm going to Minnesota next week for the military convention. and hopefully I'm going to buy a original kreigsmarien uniform. I'll take a look and see if I find any repo stuff. and shoot you a pm if you want me to get you anything. Also there is a guy that sells repo ww2 uniforms for quite cheap $180 us he has ww2 german sniper smoks (which would go nice if you bought that tanka kar98) I bought some stuff from him before and hes a great guy to deal with. I'll see if I can find his email address for you.

If you just want something similar and not exact I suggest early East German uniforms.

I have a couple and though the differences will not get you accepted into any recreational unit, they can fool teenage girls with little knowledge of the era. Just be sure to get WOOL and not the later polyester knock offs. Or get the polyester if you want it even cheaper and less accurate.

Never bought from here but you may want to try http://www.tridentmilitary.com/EG-Uniforms.htm or as always E bay

Hey, those are good enough to even fool me. I even had to take a second look. I may have to consider buying one of those now.

No belt loops *sniffle*

Anyway, I'd take Rohleder's suggestion. The early post war uniforms are about AS cheap as you are ever goin' to get, while still appearin' similiar. Of cource the real hard part is goin' to be the fieldgear, but I'm sure Ebay will more then accurately be able to cover that for you. (That is, unless you just want to get postwar gear to go with the uniform, then your options should be easier)

Hehe, just a warnin', don't try to fool too many girls, sometimes you run into one who knows what she is talkin' about...an' see right through you The sad thing is she is probably not single, so your SOL.

Tut mir leid! These files are bigger then I thought.

NVA = Nationale Volks Armee = DDR Wehrmacht = East German Army

I picked up a Swedish tunic and pants awhile back, never have used them in a game but the price was pretty decent.

http://www.majorsurplusnsurvival.com...tegory_Code=23

I'll take some better pictures of the tunic and post them here if anybody is interested. You'd have to get different buttons and you might have to try dying the fabric to make it more closely resembe field grey, but if you wear a small or a medium this would certainly be a cost effective alternative. Not sure if Major's still stocks these in larger sizes or not, their web page crashed on me when I tried to follow the link to the larger sized jackets.

Shugart, I suggest you check out these "Economy" uniforms on this site, $165 US for pants and jacket.
