Help for propane fill

Just bought a Socom Gemtech Oasis pistol-having problems and ,of course, the store( Toronto Airsoft) is now closed until Wednesday. He part filled with a can of green gas for a demo.I stopped at Crappy tire for a Coleman propane tank.I got 10 shots from the remaining green gas they had put in so now started with the Coleman propane.
I dropped a couple of drops of oil into the valve and screwed on the plastic
adaptor ( which I bought at the store). I held it vertically and pushed down for the fill- did not notice excess spray or hiss which indicates a good fill(?)
Inserted the mag , pulled the trigger which works but no gas.
Have I done something wrong or a defective empty tank.Thanks!

That sounds correct. Try pushing on the valve of the propane tank...does propane spray out?

Yes , it does
And I assume the adaptor is fitting well as it does thread all the way and I know there is no noise when depressing onto mag.

They are silent fill valves on the mags. If there is resistant on the upper valve where the hammer knocks the mag you know there is pressure. You can also push it a little bit and gas will spray out from the top.

I depressed a round chromed surface , about 3/4 inch above a black hex screw
and no gas escape. I am totally novice but could it be that the nozzle on the
plastic adaptor is not fitting well on the mag valve -maybe needs enlarging ?

By any chance are you trying to put gas in the screw instead of the fill valve?

No, I depressed the fill valve at bottom and also the chrome/metal area near the top of the mag to see if gas would escape.
I'm convinced that it never filled and that's why I wonder if the nozzle on the adaptor is not a large enough diameter to fit over and enclose the fill valve. Are they all universal fitting?
If I cut the adaptor nozzle open a little- bad move or good move?

Sorry folks, tried to edit but did not happen- could I open up the end that fits on the adaptor also. You can't see if a good fit when both ends are seemingly in place

Thanks Styrak- If no other solutions offered, I may end up with a long trip back to the store for their evaluation.Does anyone know if this metal adapter is available in Toronto?

I generally don't like Metal Propane adaptors (although they will last forever). Reason being is that the metal end could potentially "crush" and damage your mags fill valve o ring (arguably it's like a 25 cent piece or possibly even less but it's just the time and effort to replace it that's the problem IMO). If you drop or kick your propane tank with a metal adaptor then no problem but if you aren't careful with the plastic ones they'll break.

Well, I have searched other Toronto suppliers and they only offer the 'Airsoft Innovations' adapter which I bought. I don't want to mess with the products and will have to wait 3 days for the seller to assist.
I will post results afterwards.
