Ares M16a3
hey all just got into Airsoft a few months back and finally bought my first AEG. I bought the M16a3 from Ares and have found little nothing about the rifle on the interwebs... nothing not even a review! I was told by the guy at Imperial (Calgary) that the Ares M16a3 was similar to the Canadian C7 which is what I am going for. It was also cheaper than the G&G Max Series M16. The big selling point for me was the functioning Bolt Catch which the G&G series did not have. Any feedback on the rifle is much appreciated. (I have yet to receive the rifle it is on pre-order)
Thanks guys. |

I'm not sure what you're wanting here? If you have a specific question, go ahead and ask and people will be happy to help. If you're just posting to see your name on a post, just don't post.

Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

You sacrificed the option of eventually upgrading your rifle, for an aesthetic bolt catch that serves no purpose other than to look cool.
If you're looking for feedback on your rifle, check out this thread: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...130929&page=10 |

You could have bought better, especially in the AV'ed section of this site.

Shouldn't you do that BEFORE you buy the rifle?

ARES M16A3 cheaper than a G&G M16A3 MAX? I still have a couple of the G&G's in stock for $510.00 plus gst & shipping. 2012 MSRP is $570.00 ++. I don't have the ARES M16A3 on my price list, but the ARES M16 RIS MSRP was $650.00 last year.
While ARES is a good brand, their proprietary parts limit them somewhat, especially when something breaks that is not standard. Waiting a month or more for a replacement part is not uncommon. Actually that tends to be pretty quick for many people. Hopefully this changes in the very near future as it is really limiting their appeal.

We're coming up on one year for a tappet plate for me.
One year; if I was a new player and that was my only AEG how would I feel?

If you were a new player and you had only one AEG and had to wait a year just for the parts, you would ragequit. Or just let it be a paperweight.
At any rate, it would be a good way to discourage people from ever joining airsoft :/

Please don't mention retailers names outside of AV section!

Hope that no substandard proprietary part breaks, because you'll be SOL and have a $460 wall hanger. Good luck. You'll need it.
