Cranking the FPS up on a gas shotgun
Here is my delima
I want a gas shotgun. Like the Marushin Mossberg M500 Tactical Cruiser. But getting one in Canada is out of this world. Retailers asking $650 F&ck that! I can get one for hundreds less...But he can only bring in stuff thats +407 fps....or more specifically, 1.9 joules. now I wonder the shotgun listed above comes in a 8mm version....would there be anyway to fit it with hi-flo or something and run it on propane or red gas to get an 8mm BB that high? any thoughts? |

YOU are such a Warmonger!!!! Geeez, buggers always wanting the max out of their guns! What in the world is the average airsofter supposed to do around you extreme mil-sim freaks!!!!!!!
Lol, I love that shotty as well, super sweet! But your post is kinda confusing, it's either you get an underpowered gun for more expensive, or a higher powered one for cheap? Gotta outline in terms that even us dumb Warmongers can understand, Droc. |

I gather his contact can get the M500 in but to do so it needs to shoot 407fps or more...so he would like to know if there is a hi flow valve that will allow this so his friend can ship him in the gun for a cheaper price......I think that is it at anyrate.....

If that is the case, good point! Damn grey area legislation! What I read a while back is that between 407fps and 500fps is perfectly legal, but under 406fps is illegal. Typical Canadian political stupidity!!! My TM Glock 17 shooting a .2g BB at 180fps is illegal, yet an AEG shooting 450fps semi or full with the same round is perfectly legal. ONLY in Canada, the safer it is, the more legislation shoved towards it to make it illegal! Hahaha........... Grrrr!
PS: Hey Cortex, I know you & he are somewhat buds, you DID realize he's a teammate of mine, right? At least this round I didn't make fun of his Liberal Party voting spree................... On the other side, I'm surprised he never mentioned sex or porn in this thread. Very odd indeed! |

How exactly is it checked?
Couldn't you just write "407FPS" on the box and ship it out. What does the thing Chrony at with 8's anyways? Cause around 300 (which I think is what it pushes) probably reaches the 1.9J Area.

I'm pretty sure you can get it written as to shoot over 407 fps. As they need to shoot over that speed with ( IIRC ) .22g bb's...which I've yet to see...
Now if they are asking for the 1.9 joule area it'll be easier to reach that with the 8mm bb's anyway as they won't have to go as fast to reach the joule limit. A .34g 8mm bb only nees to go ~ 345-350 to reach 1.9 joules.

Has anoyone tried dropping one BB in the barrel at a time, then chronoying it?
I've always wondered what it would clock at then. And is there any way to alter the mechnism to only load one BB at a time?

Not sure about the M500 but I know in the M870's you can replace the hammer spring with a stronger one giving more FPS. It requires opening the gun but you might be able to find one that fits.
