Systema PTW hopup

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anybody could take some pics of their ptw hopup? I've been looking around for awhile, but I can't seem to find any good pictures that show how the hopup works. I know there are rollers in there, and a air chamber to take place of the bucking, but that's about as far as I could get.

Thanks!

I can take a picture of the hop-up complete, or disassembled, but fat lot of good it will do you. What you should do is borrow an inner barrel assembly from someone and observe it in action.

You can look at the PTW Gen 3 VUK (version-up kit) instructions on .pdf on the Systema website. They show a step-by-step dissasembly with an explanation of how their system is supposed to work. This is the stock hop-up though and not the modified one, which is far superior for heavy BBs and for accuracy and shot-to-shot consistancy.

It took awhile to find the actual systema site, but here's the pdf for future ref

Thanks Mcguyver!

It appears BR-023 is the roller, but then what do BR-021 do?

Thanks again!

That's not the one. That is just the simple exploded parts diagrams.

The BR-021 are the adjuster cushions. They provide the counter-pressure to the BB as it passes by the adjuster and forces the adjuster cage up.

Wow, and I thought I hit gold... Now that I actually see it, the hopup seems extremely well thought through. Now it's time to think...

Basically a whole lot more contact time and surface for each shot.

Some pros/cons (IMO):
- stock cage is a bit flimsy....it works, but ham handed persons like me might break them when fiddling with it.
- the stock adjuster cushions are really pretty stiff....lots of resistance to compression, but not a great spring back effect
- the stock roller looks anemic and dainty...and it's not hard to understand why guys complained so much about No/Poor hopup action on stock setups.
- I don't think the "roller" in mine acutally "rolls"...works like sex though
- the stock barrel cuts in the inner barrel don't always allow enough adjustment to set the hopup OFF enough, especially once modded. An easy tweak.

The rollers aren't supposed to roll. That was a failure of implementation of this design that was present in Gen 1 guns but was rectified by Gen 3.

The adjuster works best if it is fixed in place and the rotational energy gets put on the BB and not on eaten up by the adjuster.
