slowing down sniper rifles
I know this is kind of a noob question, but how do I know what spring to get when trying to clock down a sniper rifle? I'm looking into buying a spring sniper, but the FPS rating is 430, and the games I want to use it in are only allowing 400fps.

Depends on the model.

Most fields have 450fps as a maximum limit for sniper rifles, are you sure all guns at that field are limited to 400fps? And are you sure that rifle you want actually shoots at 430fps? As said above, you have to point out the rifle type so others can shime in and say what spring you can get for it.

I clicked on this thread thinking.. "snipers already move really slowly, why would you want them even slower?"
Sniper != Sniper Rifle.

Exactly, and here is a picture of a snipe.

And if you have more than one snipe, this is what they look like.

It will depend on the type of gun you have. But spring snipers are relatively similar for spring power. Your honest to god best bet is to ask an experienced sniper. There aren't a whole hell of a lot of them, but when it comes to sniper rifles they are the only ones that can give you a straight answer. Try finding guys in the forums that talk about, or review snipers. You may even find one for your particular gun.

short answer = M110 (bolt rifle spring mind you they are different then aeg springs... unless it's an A&K SVD )
should bring you into the 380 range... then when you add more internal parts (and you will!) like barrel, rubber, compression equip, etc ... it should bring you right around 400fps or an M120 now (possible to put you just over 400 with good seal/compression/etc) and hope... and then buy a lighter spring when you start upgrading the other internals... personally ... I would go with the M110 ... and focus everything else on consitancy, accuracy, smooth and quiet ... the upgrades for such will net you some fps and the M110 will give you the buffer zone you need not to break the FPS limit. and as many many repeat over and over ... it's a LIMIT .. not a goal . no reason a tuned/maintained bolt rifle can't put a @ 380-390 fps can't put a .3 on a 200ft torso (given a clear shot, and favorable weather conditions ofcourse)
