My First AEG, Very Very Happy
:-D Hi All :-D
Received my first AEG today and am so pleased with it, that I don't want to put it down. It's a TM SR-16 rifle that I ordered from Ranger's Airsoft. I also received 3 locap mags, 1 hi cap mag, battery pack and two bags of bb's. My rifle is jazzed up just a little with a tactical sling and a red dot sight. I am considering adding a silencer and maybe even a bipod. The battery pack is still charging, and should be ready soon for fun time. Here's two pics. |

I'm no Ralphie
Ha Ha
I've got eye protection too, one of the first things I bought. No worries there. I don't plan on being the star of a Ralphie red rider carbine action shoot your eye out scene. Did i get all that right with the carbine? I think it was a red rider carbine. Modern stuff is my preference though. Cheers |

I remember the first time I seen a AEG, the post dude dropped it off on my deck and when I woke up and went to leave the house it was there, along with a Sun Projects M203, That was as close as i have come to reliving childhood "Christmas Morning" phenomenon. I know how you feel, lol cherish it because after about 40K rounds and some mechanical failures you will grow to have a love/hate relationship with those things.

Before upgrading it cosmetically, get a metal body. The upper/lower housing WILL eventually snap (happend to me, also a proud owner of SR-16 ). The metal housing would also reduce barrel wobble (although that is non-existant on the SR-16). |

BUT, I would avoide using the sling. The SR16 has terrible barrel wobbel and is VERY weak where the front end meets the reciever. I would strongly recommend AGAINST using a sling unless you have a metal body. You see your RIS on the front, what I did was I pulled the upper hardgaurd cover back 2-3 inches so it covers both the RIS and the reciever rail. Its a quick, cheap fix to a big problem. It wont keep your gun from wobbling totally, but if you trip and fall, it may help keep it from snaping. I own a SR16 and Im very happy with it. M4 benifits, with the ability to hold a large battery in the stock. Well balanced and makes for a good sniper platform. good luck |
