Chroming a gun?
I've searched this forum and didn't find any thread on it so I assume nobody's asked it yet.
How much does it typically cost to chrome a metal body airsoft pistol? What if it's just the slide? Is chroming recommended on aluminum body or pot metal body? Also, is it possible to have a matte chrome? I know it's a lot of questions but any info is much appreciated.

Figure out what the exact material is first, then you'll be able to get appropriate answers.
Die cast zinc-aluminum is NOT the same thing as aircraft grade billet aluminum... which also is NOT the same thing as aluminum siding on a house. Each will react differently to different processes. |

I was thinking about doing this for a while on my KWA Metal Outer Barrel for the 1911...
Just been too lazy to do it.... http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/sa-xd-x...-write-up.html

If you post the gun make/model for the particular parts in question, someone on this forum may know the answer as well.

Polishing and Anodizing would probably be easier.

if you have a metal pistol, you could try to remove the paint, sand it with 600 grits paper and apply some metal polish - it gives out a nice result that mimicks chrome.

I actually don't have said pistol at hand, I just want to know if its chrome-able before I buy it. KWA's CZ-75 or the KWA's TT-33 that's coming out are just two of the many models that I am considering.

I think most of the KWA stuff have plastic outer barrels... I had to order the metal barrel by calling KWA USA.
Their KWA barrels are aluminum, so when you get metal polish, make sure it says its for aluminum etc... :P

Could use chrome krylon paint. It does the same thing if you know what you're doing.

Sort off. Unfortunatly since Airsoft guns, in the most part, are built with different materials than the ones used in their realsteel counterparts, the "weathering" prosses ends up in different. Scratched blued steel doesn't look the same as scrathced anodyzed aluminium if you know what I mean
