Best first gun (mp5 or m4)
I'm debating between the G&G MP5 A4 MAXand the G&G M4 Carbine MAX. Both are full metal and shoot well over the FPS I need(but both come with downgrade springs). There is noway in hell i could use the carbine for CQB, well the MP5's downgrade spring might just bring the FPS low enough for it to be usable in semi-auto for CQB. I work at the store I would be buying my AEG from so I can get either of them for the same price.
I was able to find lots of internal/external upgrades for the M4 but almost none for the MP5, so I'm kinda leaning toward the M4 for upgrade-ability. On the other hand, I like the feel/weight/look of the MP5 much better. What would you recommend as a first AEG? |

M4 all the way!You could use the carbine for CQB, it would just be easier with an MP5. Do you play in an indoor or outdoor place?

both guns are already upgraded out of the box. once you put the lower velocity spring in you shouldn't have any problems. where are you located? depending where you play will determine whether your gun will be under the max fps limit.
as for which gun is better, that's entirely up to you. If you work at the store then try them both out, find which one is comfortable for you. |

I would be playing strictly outdoor, but some of our local fields(that I wouldn't be using that often regardless) play CQB rules 100% of the time(for liability reasons they say).
Would I notice a difference in accuracy/range between the 2 guns?(both are using M140 springs) due to barrel length? The FPS on the carbine just seems too high. If it really is shooting at 460 FPS my local airsoft club wouldn't let me use it in auto or burst, and my MED would be ridiculous. Might as well get a sniper rifle. Quote:

You would have to downgrade the spring.
Get an M4, it's easier to downgrade and as you progress you can add bells and whistles to pimp it up. That and mags and vest's/gear is easier to acquire for the m4. Though I would suggest getting AVed and waiting until you can check out the deals on the classifieds and the retailers here, it could save you a few bucks. Cheers. |

I'm getting a pretty good deal on these 2 as it is, and I don't have to pay/wait for shipping or meet some stranger somewhere and show them my ID EDIT: Now that I look closer at the upgrades both guns come with, I can't think of any more I would likely do in the near future, and since I'm not really a big fan of most of the external mods(flashlights, big sights, etc) I'm going with the MP5. Hopefully G&G would be willing to sell me replacement parts if i emailed them, since I have yet to stumble across any piston heads etc that say they will work with an MP5. If you intend on becoming a member of this community you will want to get AVed eventually. Good luck with your choice. Cheers. |

They have nearly identical gearboxes, I don't know why you think they have differing availabilities of internals upgrades.

I would rather get an SRC gen 3 pro, they seem to be nicer, specially considering that they already come with a SOPMOD-like stock already installed.
